Is it possible for the sleeve to not work on someone? Is it possible to never lose weight even though they have 85 percent of their tummy taken away? Has anyone ever heard of someone failing their sleeve and it being a waste of time. mine isnt doing anything 5 weeks into sugery and feeling like i wish i could get my tummy back and try a different surgery. ugh

While I've struggled with food choices, I'm no where near consuming what I consumed before. I know my calories per day have been 800 calories MAX and the scale hasn't moved for me in weeks. You're not alone. They say we all go through this. Its hard to tell unless you're a year or more out.

We have to be patient. Not say you aren't, but its just a reminder.

Kerry, the sleeve can't really "fail" - it's either a sleeve, and restricts intake, or not. What you put in it depends on you. I am sure however that there are some people whose weight loss is less than they expected/wanted due to other factors such as metabolism, etc...

As a start, you're only a few weeks post surgery, you have this for the rest of your life and there is no race.

What are you eating? Are you tracking your input so you know how many calories are going in? Are you exercising yet? Are you drinking Water? Are you eating enough Protein?

Any other medical problems?

Read up on (search) the three week stall. Many get it, I did for 20 days. Your body is still healing, and your body is trying to figure out what the heck you did to it. relax, do what the Doc and Nut said to do, and the weight will come off. You must to do your part, and the sleeve will do its part.

You don't have that much to lose, so hang in there, it will come off slower than some, but who cares as long as it comes off! I see you both have lost weight... so its not like you have lost nothing! Just keep on plan. You will see! I am losing about 7 pounds a month right now... it is slow, but going in the right direction. Im happy about it! The slower you lose, the more your skin has a chance to tighten up as you go. My nut said expect 10 pounds a month, and most months have been about that... but slowing down a little the last two months.

Hi,

I agree with "feedyoureye"...... it is a slow loss, not a race. I have had weeks of lossing only 1 pound, .08 of a pound, then two weeks later I lost 4 lbs in a week... It has been balancing around the 10 -11 lb loss a month. Are you saying in 5 weeks time you have not lost a pound or has just been too slow?

I only weigh my self once a week, I have not lost anything in the last 2 weeks....frustrating, very frustating, but I can feel it in my clothes that I am losing, pants that I wore a month ago are just barely hanging on me! Yet the scale hasnt moved.

If I could suggest, go back and look at the basic requirements and truly evaluate if you are doing your part to help.. the sleeve cant do it all.. Look at your Water intake, Protein intake, calories and excersise... make sure you have these basics in line.... hope it gets better for you and your stahl gets broke... good luck....

To break out of the stall up your Protein and calorie intake a bit so your body will come out of that "starvation mode" that it's in. ;) Make sure you're getting in all your liquids and yes, it will come off. Your sleeve won't fail you, it's what you put into your body that has the ability to fail you. Make good choices and trust me, you can't go wrong!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
