I had a "mini" goal to be 175 by the 30th of April for a race and I did it! YAY! My next mini goal is to be 163lbs because that will put me back to pre-pregnancy weight (my daughter is almost 7!) LOL

I have two very mini goals, but I gained 2lb last week (I was on holiday), so I've only just re-lost that 2lb and am back to square one. I'm 191lb again now.

1st mini goal = 189lb which is my pre-baby (she is 7 now), and wedding day weight. I wanted this for easter and missed, but REALLY want it for our friend's wedding this coming saturday.

2nd mini goal = 187lb which puts me at 1lb below my husband's weight for the first time ever (woooo), and I just want to get to that as soon as I can. Although in his defense he is 6ft4, and I'm only 5ft8!!

3rd mini goal = 181lb which takes me to the weight i was the day my husband and I moved in together 11 years ago, ah to be 20 again!

WOW! you guys have given me MOTIVATION.. i have been setting mini goals but i havent always reached them. I, too, am a slow loser. I am six weeks post op and not down the 30lbs that i wanted to be at this point. My next mini goal is to be 200lbs by Friday, 5-20-2011. Only thing is I should be PMSing soon and that always adds about 3lbs. Today, I am 204 (down 23lbs). so, 10 days for 4 pounds weight loss, considering that time of the month coming up, should be reasonable. Also, can anyone recommend the a GREAT AND ACCURATE scale? That "health o meter" scale from Walmart is a TRIP!

You're right! Health O Meter always would be crazy for me. I'd step on and it would give me a weight, then right after step on again it would be +/- 5 Lbs!!

I use Taylor and it works excellent. It's always right on with my Drs office. I've also heard a lot of good things about the Weight Watchers scales. Of course you can never go wrong with the Detecto scales too.

I have had several mini-goals.

1. 250 lbs- done

2. 75 lbs or 50% to goal - done

3. 225 marriage weight - done

4. Size 16 - when I graduated hs

5. 199 - onederland

6. Size 12 when I last felt thin

7. Size 10 the smallest I have ever been

I need to look up my obese to overweight and my overweight to normal numbers and add them in.

Love this topic btw.

I've been scared to set too many because I didn't know how quickly I would lose. However in the back of my mind, I always wanted to be in Onederland by July 4th or at the latest July 23rd for my son's birthday party (backyard pool party). I am at 225 today, so that would be 26lb in 8 weeks. Not sure if I will hit it, but at least it's within reach! I joined my first "what will you weigh" challenge on here for the July 4th challenge so I guess it is my first "official" goal. My 'true' first goal was to weigh less than my husband but I never told him that. ;) I have already hit that one. :)

My mini goal is to weigh 225 by June 29, one year out. I'm only weighing once a month now, so don't now how close to that I am. Hopefully have taken off some weight since the day before Easter. Btw, that will be only 15 pounds away from what my surgeon thought would be a reasonable end weight for me having started at 385.5. I plan to go way beyond that no matter how long it takes.

I absolutely love MINI goals. I actually just suggested to my support group last night , that BEFORE surgery you should sit down and come up with a list because after surgery things can happen so rapidly that things may pass you by.

Some mini goals I've had is to weigh less than my husband, then my brother (I've always been the BIG big sister! ) Most recently it was to lose 2 pounds because those suckers wouldn't leave.... they finally did and brought me to a 100 pound loss.

Uhm, next goal is to fit into a 16. I can't wait.

After that it's a 14, then ONDERLAND! CAnt wait

Not to be a downer at all, but I am 250 lbs and NOWHERE NEAR a size 14/16, more like a 22! I think your mini-goal idea is awesome though, I may need to steal it!

I'm very top heavy lol. I'm in 18's now and they are pretty loose so I hope I can get into a 14/16

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
