Can anyone recommend WLS Books to read?

Recommended Posts

I have 2 weeks left at home and I'm about drained of watching youtube vids on WLS journies/recipes.

I know there are a few books out there about WLS and I miss my old days of spending hours in Barnes and Nobles so I was wondering if there are folks who could recommend some decent books to purchase so I can spend some free time reading smile.gif

Regular readings or recipe books are both ok. Thanks in Advace

Eat it Up! by Connie Stapleton Ph.D. (about WLS in general) and Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes -- both excellent books :) Hope that helps!

Regular books: A Dog's Purpose (a tearjerker) by W. Bruce Cameron; Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford; The Help by Kathryn Stockett

These were all really good reads! :)

After watching one of Julie's videos, I bought Why we get Fat and Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes. I also read A Guide to Weight Loss Surgery: Professional and Personal Views by Rhonda Hamilton. I believe they helped me make an informed decision (of course aided by all the info here on VST and OH).

The psychologist I had to get cleared by gave me a list of books he thinks are very good.

These he highly recommended:

The Emotional First + Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery, Second Editon - - By Cynthina L. Alexander

Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: Over 140 Delicious Low-Fat High Protein recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months, and Years After Surgery - - By Patt Levine

Mindless Eating : Why We Eat more Than We Think - - By Brian Wansink

Others he listed were:

Before & After, Revised Edition: Living and Eating Well After Weight-Loss Surgery - - By Susan Maria Leach

Exodus from Obesity: The Guide to Long- Term Success After Weight Loss Surgery - - By Paula F. Peck

Life Is Hard, food Is Easy: The 5-Step Plan to Overcome Emotional Eating and Lose Weight on Any Diet - - By Linda Spangle

Hope that helps!

I've been reading The Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery, Second Editon by Cynthia L. Alexander

and

Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: Over 140 Delicious Low-Fat High Protein recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months, and Years After Surgery by Patt Levine

They both are good so far. Lots of great information and recipes to try.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
