What to replace delivery pizza with?

I'm not sleeved yet. Right now we order pizza sometimes on the weekend. After I get sleeved, what will we be able to replace that with? What's a good convenient order-out food that can take the place of our weekend Papa John's run?

You could still order the pizza just do not eat the crust. Pick off the toppings for yourself to eat. The rest of the family can eat the crust. It's like eating a burrito only eat the yummy insides and leave the flour tortilla out till you are farther out from surgery. Eventually you will be able include flour based doughs back into your eating plan. It will just be in much smaller quantities.

Another idea is getting a spit roasted chicken from the grocery or if there is a restaurant that delivers spit roasted chickens. too bad you do not have a Swiss Chalet they are yummy.

Or if you want to make your own pizza try the cauliflower Pizza Crust recipe that is in the recipe section on here. It is yummmy!

Maybe order some plain chicken wings and heat yourself up some veggies? That is what my mom has always done. She has some strange aversion to pizza.< /p>

I get chicken wings or I just slide the toppings off the pizza and don't eat the crust. I tried the low carb Pizza Crust last night, don't waste your time!

If you have a family order the pizza for them because feeding you won't be any trouble at all. A 1/3 cup of cottage cheese and a few slices of peach and you will be as satisfied as you were after 3-4 slices of pizza pre-op.

Trust me...."whatever you decide to do" you are only going to be able to eat a few bites or 1 chicken wingette - 2 at THE MOST! I did the same thing and tried to put a lot of thought into it. What can I eat here and if I go there and if we cook out or go to the beach, the mall, the movies, etc....Now I see that the reality of it is "what is the point"? LOL It is one of those things that you just have to see for yourself.........just how full you are going to be from barely eating anything at all.

I agree with Saved By The Sleeve, you will find that you won't be interested in alot of what other people are eating. You can opt to just eat the topping or do something completely different and eat some cottage cheese instead. I find that I will make myself one scrambled egg if the family is eating something that isn't appealing to me. You will find that your food needs will not be as big of a deal because they are so small and simple.

We sometimes make pizza at home using Trader Joe's pizza dough. The family made some this weekend and I just wasn't that interested in it. I snacked on something else and I eventually took 1 bite of the pizza. I chewed it forever because I was concerned about how my stomach would react, and there wasn't any problem. I think I could have eaten about 4 bites as long as I don't eat the lump of crust at the top.

You'll see, these problems are not really problems at all once you get there :-)

I had this dilema this past weekend. So I asked for a side of the pizza sauce, sauteed up some chicken breast and a few veggies, added a couple spoons of cottage cheese and some of the pizza sauce and made a kind of casserole. Then I threw some extra cheese on the top and broiled it to melt the cheese. It still tasted like the pizza, cheese/ sauce/ toppings, but I was in Protein heaven!!!

I can eat pizza but only as a last resort. usually during an ordered in lunch at work. It was one of the last tings I was able to tolerate. Healthy fast food is a bit of a problem but KFC works, they have Grilled chicken. A little high in sodium but a grilled breast has 210 calories and 34g of Protein, I usually eat maybe 1/2 or 2/3 of one and the mashed potatoes and gravy have 120 calories, I don't even eat half. My wife is sleeved and she likes the honey BBQ meat. A snacker is the perfect amount for her(maybe a little to big of a portion) with the bun it is 210 calories but she might eat half of the bottom part.

Wendy's chili works, wendy's baked potato with chili works, just remember you won't eat it all. Also burgers work, don't expect to eat a bun at first and when you can finally eat a bun, make sure you ask for it extra toasted. I was great at poaching from other people. I also find fried foods make me feel bad. Can't put it into words but you will understand.

Any kind of chicken works but remember the fried thing. Opt for grilled or baked if you can. Any kind of mexican you can get Beans even early out or better yet fish tacos. Flour tortillas might be a problem, go for corn.

BTW, My daughter ordered Papa John's earlier this week. My wife and I had leftover chicken Fajita's that I made. I did have to have a bite, it tasted good but not as good as I remembered.

We eat out a couple of times a week, but try to stay away from fast food. being that we are both sleeved, we can split a sandwich at a sit down place and be out for $10 because we can't even buy a soda. Sometimes we might just split an appetizer and buy a side like mashed potatoes or veggies.

You can buy really low-carb lavash bread (I see people say the find Joseph's brand at Walmart, I keep forgetting to look for it myself!), and top it with your own stuff, then pop it under the broiler for a few minutes to warm and melt -- super fast, and you're in control of it all!

My favorite before was the Mediterranean pizza from Papa Murphey's. I bought the stuff and made my own version. :)

I used a Flatout flat bread for my crust. Topped it with a drizzle of olive oil and minced garlic then spread it around. Then put mozzarella cheese, grilled chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and Feta. I put it in the toaster oven. I SWEAR it tastes just like theirs! Even my kids and husband love it. :)

Meatza! Use lean hamburger or ground turkey as "Crust" and put toppings on it. The recipe is in the recipes section from months ago.

Wow, these are all great ideas. I love the flatbread pizza one I will surely be trying that. I can't wait until food just really doesn't matter to me anymore! That sounds so great. I'm going to be such a cheap date!

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

      Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs. 
      I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm. 
      I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order. 
      My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

      Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
      Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
      A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.

      I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
      Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
