Regret and fear are my worse enemies right now

Recommended Posts

Monday I called my doctor's office because instead of having Constipation or something like that, I am having problems doing #1. I hydrate all day long with Water may I add, and the response I got from my surgeon's office was to call my primary physician... No offense, but are you f****** kidding me??? Really? I was completely brushed off. SO, I do just that- I go to my primary physician, they run a urinary analysis and there's no urinary tract infection, nothing unusual except the fact that my urine is so concentrated with bilirubin and keytones (sorry if spelled wrong). I was then informed by my PP to call my surgeon's office and fax them the results. I don't even know what the heck all that means! I'm very frustrated, I'm only peeing like twice a freakin day and nobody sees a problem with that when I'm drinking anywhere between 60oz to 84oz of water a day??? My skin is so dry and on top of that, I've gained 3lbs! I feel like no one gives a damn especially my surgeon and I'm slightly regretting the decision to have this surgery. I didn't have any health issues before surgery and now they are talking about my pee isn't filtering right??? UGH!. I have never felt so out of control in my life and I just don't know- my emotions are a wreck. I'm so worried that this was a waste especially since I'm gaining weight and I'm 4 weeks out. I'm sorry for all the aggression and anger guys but I just had to get this out. I tried expressing how I felt to my mom and she was no help, nobody really understands what I'm going through. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Oh and no matter how much water I drink, there is no dilution in the color of my urine it is so dark. I look so sickly in the face, but they are telling me I'm fine. I don't feel fine.

I'm so sorry. Stay on them. Call them every day. Tell them your exact symptoms. Write down your symptoms before you call so you don't forget anything. Write down each time you call and what they say. Use that when you call the next time. If that doesn't work, go over your primary doc's head and ask for a second opinion. Check to see if your insurance company has a patient advocate department and call them if they do.

You're 4 weeks out. When you get your surgery you lose a LOT of Water weight right away. Around week 3 or 4 your body starts replenishing that liquid it lost. That's what causes the dredded week 4 stall. You're probably still losing fat, but whatever fat you're losing is being replaced by the Water you're gaining. (according to my nutritionist)

It's not a problem per se. It's annoying, but it should pass after a week or two. And if not, Then it may be a problem.

Who was your surgeon, I would hope they would have more interest in your condition.

I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. If it's any help, I'm almost 3 months post op and even though I drink around 70 oz of Fluid a day I only pee about 2 times a day, too, and when I do, it's not that much. My doctor told me that my body is filtering liquids differently than it did before. I don't have any UTI or any problems because of it. I don't feel sick, either. I was just worried because I don't go as much as I used to.

I hope you get some answers soon, and feel better!

Are u on any meds??

My friend had surgery last year and he had minor complications because he was on Blood Pressure meds before surgery and they didnt reduce the dosage, so the diuretics were still at the high pre-op level, and he was severely dehydrated...

No, I'm not on any medicines except for birth control. I'm hoping this is just a minor bump in the road.

thank you all for the support. I'm still upset, but I'm calming down. I hate being emotional. Thanks once again.

When I stall, I gain as well, as much as a 5lb gain!! It sucks the big one. I only pee a couple times a day and I find that unless I get a large amount of Water at one time ( around a liter within a 1/2 hour to an hour), that is the only time it looks dilluted. Stay on your doctor ( especially the surgeon!!) until you feel satified with the answer

It is not unexpected to have concentrated urine with ketones when we are rapidly losing weight. As obese people, we are naturally dehydrated. Once we start replenishing our body's Water stores with 48 + ozs of Water a day, it will become common to not have to urinate so much. It seems counter-intuitive but it really does happen. I am disappointed in your surgeon's office--they should have somebody call you and discuss what's going on. I hope this helps!

i am pre-op and i drink like a fish. i don't think i produce nearly what i should compared to what i put in! my dr. says i am fine! i wouldn't worry too much about it, if you are peeing, then you are getting rid of waste. i would go sit on the toilet and make myself pee. sometimes, even if you don't feel like you have to go, there is still some that will come out.

If you still feel it is a problem, keep on them dr.'s. noboby knows your body like you do!

Good luck!

Kelly :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
