Oh so many questions!

Recommended Posts

Hi...my first post! I am scheduled for VSG surgery on June 7, 2011 with Dr. Naim in LA/Orange County. I am excited and nervous. It seems like every surgeon is a little bit different, but I actually don't start my pre-op diet until 3 weeks before my surgery. Does this seem unusual?

I also had a bi-lateral pulmonary embolism in December, so my surgery is being coordinated with my pulmonologist to make sure all goes well, and I'll have to be extremely diligent after surgery to ensure I do everything I am supposed to in order to avoid another blood clot.

I am hopeful that the surgery will help with my diabetes and PCOS.

I've done a lot of reading on this forum and other websites....but any personal advice from people who have actual experience would be much appreciated!!

I think that you are doing an awesome thing for yourself. My experence was really good no complications no issues. They do give you blood thinners while you are in the hospital so that will ease your mind a little. The best advice that I can give you is to walk and drink as much as possible after surgery. Your pain will be less and you will heal a lot faster. You will have to push yourself after surgery and it will be hard to get out of bed, but you will feel so much better for doing so. I will tell you that this is the best thing that I ever did for myself and If I had to do it again I would do it 100 times over. Before surgery also make sure your doc puts you on a ppi. such as nexium, protonics, prevacid etc.etc.. good luck and please keep us posted

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
