Wouldnt consisder myself a success story yet, but here goes.....

I had surgery on 3/15/10. The surgery literally saved my life. There are times when I still see 342lbs when I look in the mirror, but then there are times when I will catch my reflection and say “damn, I’m skinny!”. Is that weird?

Anyhoo, a year later, I still have great restriction. Some days more than others. I can usually pack in 2-3 oz of dense Protein plus about 1-2oz of veggies in one sitting. 5oz max (meat and veggie) at one time. My hunger hasn’t really returned, I just get an empty feeling in my belly, though cravings have come back and usually attack me around my TOM. Too much sugar makes me sick and if I don’t get enough liquids and Protein in, I will stall. I haven’t really exercised all that much in the past year. Practically not at all. I probably would be at goal if I had. I did recently buy a bike and as soon as the weather breaks, I will be taking up cycling and running. I am planning on doing a 5k in September.

Life is better and I am looking forward to the future! To those on the fence about having wls; just do it! it will change your life.

Don't discount your success! You are a success story, I'm having my surgery in May, and one year from my surgery date May 2012, I will be graduating nursing school. If I lose half as much as you did in a year, or look half as good, I'll be doing great! so keep it up girl! :) You're an inspiration!

I wouldnt go as far as to say that I am eating perfectly. I have my moments and my weaknesses. The difference now is 1) i dont have that "all or nothing" mentality. If I make a bad choice its easier to get back on track rather than just saying "screw it" like I would have before surgery. And 2) theres only but so much damage I can do with a tiny little stomach!

Thanks God for the Sleeve!!!

Congratulations, you look incredible!! It sounds like you're eating perfectly with Protein and veggies...great job and I hope I have as much success as you! And I agree with those who said you look years younger WOW

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
