Hello January sleever!

I was sleeved on January 6th by Dr Ramos-Kelly. I have lost a total of 42.8 pounds (20 since surgery). Seem to be averaging about 3-3.5 pounds per week now at 5 weeks out. So far I have met 2 of my goals: Onederland and my Half Way goal!

I love my sleeve - the best gift I ever gave myself! Eating soft foods now, mostly tuna, fish, cottage cheese, cheese etc. Still drinking a Protein shake for Breakfast daily. No problems at all except Water still does not taste right to me, so I struggle with liquids.

Love in my sleeve!

Kim

I was sleeved Jan. 26th - and since the start of the pre-op diet (5 days before surgery) I am down 31 pounds! I can't believe it. Yes - like you, I am confident that I could have lost this on my own (probably not as fast and with a lot more effort, i.e. exercising) > but you have to think long term. The nurse at my surgeons office told me the next 18 months are going to be the easiest time for losing weight. I think I'd have a much much harder time continuing the weight loss on my own over the next 18 months, that's for sure. So, while I can do it for a month or two, maybe three, but then whatever happens and I lose track or get tired of keeping track or find excuses not to exercise..... My surgeon also told me the average is to lose 60% of excess weight by the one year mark. So, 1-2 pounds a week is completely reasonable, and I do not expect to continue with this fast weight loss as this first month. Also, the slower you go, the longer it stays off, and the less skin sagging (I hope!). So, really, there are other surgery options if someone needed to lose more than that over the long haul, but I looked at the slower rate as the healthier option for me. Don't sweat it, if you are following your doctors instructions, you'll do fine. Apparently stalls are normal but not forever. Good Luck!!

Hi my fellow January Sleevers!

I was sleeved Jan. 22 by Dr. Ramos-Kelly in TJ. I started this Journey at 281 and I am 254 (with 11 pds lost pre-op) I just moved to mushies. I am trying to get all my Protein in BUT I hate the shakes. I found an unflavored whey shake from GNC that I am adding bananas and strawberries to, so we will see how it goes. I am vomiting from time to time BUT I think its because I am trying to figure out this "full" thing. This morning I ate half of a scambled egg and 1/4 of applesauce and up it came. I am really struggling with NOT drinking and eating. I think if I am able to take a sip while eating it will make the food move down.

I think I am in the stage where I question whether I made the right decision. I know it will past. Glad to see everyone doing well.

I saw my family physician today and I hit the twenty pounds off mark today, at about three weeks out. I was thrilled to see the scale going down. At two weeks out I only lost thirteen pounds and was told I lost the least of anyone Ever.I wanted to cry. Glad to see the numbers going in the down direction at last. I too am eager to get outside and walk, but it is so cold and nasty out I have been settling for doing housework. Sounds like everyone is doing great and we are all different. Hang in there, we did the right thing!!!

Doing well. Finally moved to purees. I saw my dr on Wednesday and he cleared me for exercise and declared me tough ;) LOL I didn't have a loss between this past Thursday and yesterday but I think we've kicked things loose again. The only thing I am struggling with is continuing to not smoke. My dr made me stop for 3 months before he'd touch me and I'm finding it hard to stay away now that I've had it. I guess it's a mental refocusing away from food thing.

I was sleeved 1/27 and since surgery I have lost 11lbs 6ounces (40lbs pre-op). Before my first official (indigestion and reflux probs forced an earlier appt) appointment was yesterday and I was a little upset with it being only 11lbs but I've decided to look at it this way. The weight will come off!! I didn't have this done as a quick-fix!! I will walk, exercise and whatever else I have to do to make it worth it. I will only pay attention to my weight numbers only during appointments or at the gym. Until then, I will concentrate on my eating/drinking and exercise.

Good luck to all of you!!!

After losing 1-2lbs for 3 weeks i've lost 4lbs this week! And its not my weigh in for another two days. If i can get a 4lbs loss every few weeks then i'll be thrilled.:D

People are also noticing now so that motivates me to stay on plan when i have bad carbs tempting me.

@DisneyAddict - I quit smoking on 1/7 with Chantix and had surgery on 1/26. So stopped taking the Chantix on the day of surgery and never started it back. Now with all of the ways I'm feeling deprived currently - no nicotine, no alcohol, no food, etc I'm finding myself having really strong urges to start smoking again. I know I shouldn't for many obvious reasons, and really enjoy saving the money and not smelling like an ashtray. I wish I could truly enjoy going to the gym, but I just don't - at least not yet. I just need to find something enjoyable to do with myself. I feel like I go home and can't do anything except walk for a little bit and watch TV. It's a daily struggle with all of that.

Hey Everyone,

Well as of tomorrow it will be 8 weeks out from surgery. I am down

56 pounds total and 48 pounds since surgery. I am still living on Soups for the

most part. Anything I have to chew might as well be rocks and glass. It tastes

horrible and I hate the feeling of it going down. Anyone else having trouble

eating. I know I am only getting in 300 calories or less a day. I am eating

whatever I can get it and think will stay down!

Yep I'm still having bad cravings. We slipped up this time last week (a pack took us 2 days) and over the weekend (same). Slippery slope and I swear it's got it's hooks back in me. UGH

That doesn't sound good Journey! Have you talked to your doc about it? You really need to eat more too...That cant be enough Protein is it?

Are you taking your Vitamins yet? How about Water?

Yeah I talked to my Dr and he said I could still have swelling. So...I have switched from Nexium to Prilosec and will give it a little more time. I am taking my Vitamins and drinking as much Water as humanly possible! lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
