African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

Holla...this will be a heated for us ladies :)

2013 is my year....Sleeved 11/19 Methodist Hosp in NY

Sleeved on Feb 1st.. Surgery went great... Doc says liver was perfect... After recovery they put me in a room ( didn't notify my family) and left me for an hour. I was in so much pain it was in my back...once I got pain medicine they had to alternate with two different kinds b/c they i went so long without meds.. They had to get it under control... Finally I was told that I was not in the hospital records so they could not give me pain medicine right away.. But the good news is I'm home...feel much better just a little sore..

Yonikkia I'm glad that you are home and doing better, they say every day is a little easier.

It does get better every day, its slow but better. I stayed in the hospital 3 days due to vomiting so my recovery is moving very slow, just remember to keep moving

Yes, I have been drinking warm crystal light. Warm tea helped relax my stomach a lot. Also, make sure your sips are tiny

Just wanted to drop in to say hello to my fellow AA sleevers. I don't post in here to often, but only because when I try to access this site from my phone (which is how I usually post) I get a password required message. Just went through forums and tried to see the group and what do you know, it let me in! Well I'm scheduled for Feb 26 and I'm getting nervous, scared. I think most of my anxiety comes from going to Tj Mexico for my sleeve. My insurance has WLS listed as an exclusion. Well you guys keep me in prayer and congrats to all pre and post AA sleevers!

So I weighed myself this morning and since my surgery on 1/29 I have lost 19 lbs. I dont know if thats too fast but its exciting

I had my surgery on 12/28 and lost 14 pounds two weeks before doing the preop Im down a total of 43 pounds in all as of 2/5 can see a big difference in my clothes and shoes its cool im 20 pounds from my mini goal and 50 from onderland.. I work out for an hour a day everday! It helps

Hello please dont laugh at me.Has anyone tried any pig ears since surgery?? lol But im serious im craving southern food right now. Its boiled and not fried.
