African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

Glad to read that you are home. Get you some rest and keep us updated about your progress. :)

finally going to the bathroom!! the roughest part right now is the cramping when I drink something. on my clear liquids for now. taking my pain meds keep the pain down. so far so good.

Hey people, I am 3-days post-op! 8/19 and feeling good. I am getting my fluids in taking anti gall stone pills and prilosec along with all liquid vitamins from C, B-Complex, B-12, multi, Hair nails skin, calcium caltrate among other things.

What's puzzling to me is I havent read anyone else discussing giving shots 2x to the abdomen after surgery. They are blood thinners but I was terrified but I did it. So happy.

HW: 285

SW: 270

GW: 160

I got the shots too. Was bruised like crazy afterwards.

Hi my name is ladyRider, I had a lap band for 5 years, with a bad outcome. I started my process in may of 2013. I jumped through all the hoops. Was denied by my insurance at first re submitted and was Approved the 2 nd time. My sleeve date was August 19,2013 almost two weeks out, lost 15 pounds ( I think it's all the food my body has been holding on to) feeling good, one day at a time, slow and steady
