African American Sleevers

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to share one of the best feelings I experienced yesterday with my 7 year old daughter since surgery..We were in a clothing store and my daughter said "mommy you should try this on...it is so pretty for you.." I looked at the size (16) and told her mommy can't fit into that. She told me just put it on and I did. Amazed to my surprise it fit!!!! I was in a size 24 in March before the surgery. I have not been in a 16 in over 17 years. That evening I did not Celebrate with food like I used to do before surgery, but with exercise. One of the best feelings in the world!

My name is neisha and my sleeve is scheduled for July 15th. I am nervous and this pre op diet is rough but I am excited to take control of my health. I have muscular dystrophy and use a wheelchair and getting this weight off would make transferring easier for me and the people who help me out. I was thinking about the lap band but my surgeon suggested the sleeve. I am very worried about the Hair loss cause I finally grew my hair to my back after years of cutting it. Has it been that bad.

Neisha, praying for your success and sending hugs your way... no worries

Well, I saw my PCP & drumroll please.....HE'S ON BOARD WITH MY SURGERY!!!!

Funny, they new of the 6 month supervised diet etc but I was not told I had to...waith for my coordinator to call me back to find out for sure if I need that or not.

So excited, I burst into tears...he's such a sweetheart of a doc & even though he's overweight, he understands what I'm going through.

I love him. Lol

Thanks everyone & welcome Jallen! I am still navigating these forums. I just figured out how to reply and quote...I am not so nervous now but Dr. Levine suggested that if diabetes is present then shed recommend the DS (looky me trying to shorten stuff up) Duodenal Switch because it gets rid of diabetes completely...I do not want that and she did state that its my decision & diabetes can be reversed with the Sleeve but will take a bit longer. I still want the sleeve.

What a wonderful life...

I had type 2 before surgery 7 weeks ago had low bmi and I have been off all oral meds since 2 days after surgery, the sleeve.

Oh my, thanks for that great news. I also DO NOT HAVE TO COMPLETE THE 6 months diet program. A history of my weight loss over the course of 5yrs is sufficient. Also, I have 2 weeks vacation in Aug. 18-31 and am hoping I can get it done then. Wouldn't that be Heaven? So glad I found a place to share my story. You all ROCK!!!

What a wonderful life...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
