Surgery Date of Dec. 22nd? Should I take it?

Recommended Posts

So undecided right now about this. My surgeon's office just called and offered me a surgery date of Dec. 22nd and I am just so not sure I want to do this so close to Christmas day. Mostly because I have two small children at home and one of them is a four year old who is beyond excited about Christmas. Anyone have experience with recovery, or hospital stay?

That close to Christmas and there is always the chance that you will be in the hospital. Also, you never know how you will feel after surgery. Some find it a breeze after 3 days and others are barely starting to recover. what a difficult decision. I would call and see what your other options are. If there is one right after Christmas, it would not be so bad to wait another week, but if the next available time is February... then you may not want to wait that long. Good luck.

So once I went over to my sisters house on new years eve around 8pm. She answered the door with her kids and said "YOURE HERE JUST IN TIME FOR NEW YEARS! " the kids were excited and jumping around. We went in the living room and they started yelling and making noise and then she said "OK now its time for bed" and the kids all trundled off happy that they had a great new years celebration. The point is if Xmas is on the 21st, 26th or 27th the four year old will never know (if you are careful about what you tell him/her/it).

:) So the point is...if you think the surgery is important go for it. How much later would your date be if you do not take this appointment?

I am just wondering if you have met your deductible for the year and if you will have the chance at another date before the new year. I have 5 kids and I agree that maybe moving the date would be a good way to be sure you enjoy the magic

Since posting this I made the decision to wait for surgery til after Christmas. My surgery is scheduled for Dec 29th. Yes, having met my deductible for the year was partly why I was pushing for a December date.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
