I am day 6 post op. I have seen others having issues with being cold. Not me, I keep having hot flashes and sweating profusely. I have checked my temp, it is normal. It is 20 degrees here and I have my bedroom window open. Has anyone else had this? It just started yesterday. I am seem to be losing weight since this started. I have tried drinking juice when it happens, but it doesn't help. I thought maybe my blood sugar was too low from no carbs.

Yowza! I sure hope this doesn't happen to me. I am hot all the time now as it is. My family wears sweat shirts during the summer in my house because I keep it so cold. I sure hope this stage ends for you very soon.

Are you taking pain meds? After surgery when I was taking the pain meds I would get super hot too. Not sure why. I hope this passes for you!

Someone told me it was due to hormones being released when the fat was being used. I had them for the first week and a half but I haven't had any in a while so it must have evened out. I would cover my body with a blanket and then turn the fan on to my face. I didn't get hot all over but my cheeks would turn bright red! Glad that is done!

I actually went through hot flashes for about 5 months. I'm 58 and already gone through all that menopause stuff, so you can imagine the shock I was in. Dr. told me that estrogen is stored in fat cells. As your fat cells shrink, the estrogen is released into your body. Therefore, you can RE-experience the hot flashes from menopause as you lose weight. I'm 8 months out now, and have lost 120 lbs. Finally, the hot flash thing has ended. I think the more weight you need to lose, the longer it lasts. I started out at 365 lbs. Just hang in there...it goes away as well as the weight.

I can tell you that being barely 5 days out I know what you mean for me my entire face begins to feel warm, I look like I caked on blush and it is a very weird feeling, I wonder if that's the fat melting off my face? LOLunsure.gif

I had them too, on and off for the first couple of weeks. I was sleeved at the end of January, so most of the time I was freezing, but then I'd cover up with a blanket to get warm and next thing I knew, I'd be breaking out in a sweat. It regulated after a couple of weeks to where I was just freezing all the time LOL.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
