Surgery Dec 22

Recommended Posts

Good Morning All,

Just received my surgery date after about 6 months of jumping through every hoop thrown in front of me. And they say weight loss surgery is the easy way out? At least that is what I have heard from various people. Although the prospect of spending Christmas in the hospital is not something I am looking forward to at least it will be the new beginning I have been looking forward to for so long. I am hoping to be out of the hospital by at least the 24th and if all goes well I will be.

I have read so many stories on these forums that sound just like mine. I have laughed at some of the responses. Cried after reading certain posts. My husband asked me last night if this is what I really want? He has been so supportive. My answer was yes. I am making a list of the things I will need in the hospital. Any suggestions are welcome. I will also need to know what I will be able to eat after the surgery. I have seen many posts that mention chicken Soup broth as being the only thing that is tolerated. The literature that I received from the hospital was geared more toward Gastric bypass and the Lap Band. They kind of grouped me in with the Bypass patients. The people at the support meetings were all Bypass patients who explained that my meals would consist of me waiting a full 15 minutes between bites of food. None were sleevers, so your posts have been my support group. .

I do not plan to tell my boss I am having surgery. I usually request my vacation around Christmas and New Years day so I think I will have the amount of time I need to recover. I was worried how this would work out as my boss is very vocal about her unfavorable views on WLS, so it kind of worked out. I have been praying for an answer on this, as I did not want to lie to my boss. Prayer answered. That Jesus, he is so funny! ;)

Hi:

I am thrilled for you and will keep you in my prayers for a successful surgery. I was sleeved on 11/22. As each day progresses, I keep getting stronger. You can really feel it!! I was sleeved in San Diego by Dr. Takata. He is a fabulous surgeon. It was at least a 6 month ordeal but so worth it. I haven't found my appetite yet and I'm not going to waste my time looking. I have been there and done that. As you get closer to your surgery date you will receive a packet on everything and anything. But prior to that packet, you should be going to at least one diet class to learn the stage progressions to eating normal food. You will also be put on a pre-op diet and all doctors vary....some 5 days to 2 weeks. My daughter's will last 2 weeks and I was 5 days. Currently I am down 13# from the start of pre-op diet. Keep us updated and good luck, you will never regret your decision.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
