18 months post op today!

Recommended Posts

Well today I am 18 months post op. I am so happy with the sleeve, I want to shout it out on top of the roof top. Last night I met a really super cute guy who told me that I look really great for my age. I turned 58 Monday. He could not believe I am 58 and asked to see my drivers license! There is no way a guy like this would have ever looked at me before. The sleeve has opened up a whole new world for me. I am so happy that there are so many younger people getting sleeved every day, and now will be able to experience life at a normal weight.

I wish the sleeve had been out years ago! I was so afraid of gaining weight back and I have twice since I got to goal over a year ago. Last March I went on a 10 day cruise and gained 11 lbs . I lost it in a week. Over the weekend, because I started celebrating my birthday early, I gained 8 lbs. Today is Friday and it's gone. Both times were because chocolate and junk goes down like I have no sleeve, and I made the choice to eat anything I wanted. The good news is, as soon as I go back to my Protein first and veggies if there is room, the weight just falls back off.

I love that a little bit of food keeps me full all day. I love that it keeps me so full, I don't even want sweets or junk. I love that for the first time in my life, I have control 99% of the time, and when I do want to throw caution to the wind, the sleeve prevents me from just gaining more and more.

I am happier than I have been in years!

I really love to read this! I am going in 11/2 and I am so excited - I just discovered this forum today and some of the horror stories - especially regarding the first 2 weeks - scare me, but you posts shows that it is worth all the pain.

In general, I don't even think it is physically possible to gain 8 pounds in a weekend - whenever that happens to me it is usually a LOT of salty Snacks that make me retain Water -but it is great to see that it is easy enough to get off the junk again. That is something that always gets me in no-sleeve life, once I am on the eating trail, it is very hard to get off again!

Thanks for posting this, "us newbies" appreciate it!

Thanks everyone!

I gained that 8 lbs over 4 days. That's 2 lbs a day from eating pure junk. My co-worker went to the dollar store and filled up a gift bag full of candy bars. Plus cake and ice cream every day- Friday, Sat, Sun, and my actual birthday on Mon. Four days of junk and no exercise at all. I really should be shot :=(

Then back to business Tuesday, and today it's officially gone! I LOVE the sleeve!

SO awesome!!! When I read your post what strikes me most is you get to live like a NORMAL person. Even people who don't struggle with weight may gain some on a cruise, a holiday, etc... but then it comes right back off when they go back to their regular routine... and that's exactly how it's going for you. That's awesome and what I am really hoping to have :) Thanks for sharing your story.

This is a great post for those of us who are just now reaching goal and have NOT had to deal with any weight gain. I was wondering how and if it would come back off easily. Thanks for the information and congrats on your success!!

Oregon, congratulations! :) You really are a true inspiration on this board, and I'm so thankful that you continue to write in and tell us what it's like even during maintenance. Congratulations on being able to go on a cruise, enjoy yourself, come back and fall back right into routine. I'm soooo looking forward to that. Thanks so much and many, many hugs! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
