Hi everyone,

I was sleeved on the 27 of sept, I guess we all have issues with food. I can only stomach liquids such as clear broth, egg drop Soup (that i hated before the surgery), V8 splash and Vitamin Water. I can't even keep water down if i am thirsty and drink it too fast. I have what seems like heartburn every day. I am downing tums, take nexium 40mg (twice a day) and I still have acid reflux, please help!!!!! What am I DOING WRONG.

Hi

I was sleeved Sept 13th. I also had a tought time with heartburn. I stopped Nexium and am now taking capsules of Prilosec ....one in the evening and one in the morning. It's working. I still cannot eat regular food. I have my Isopure choc Protein drink every morning. I also usually wake up naseous. I discovered watermelon. I never used to eat watermelon. It tastes wonderful and disolves in my mouth. I had a chicken soup with tofu yesterday at a restaurant...not too bad. Chewed tofu a long time. Drinking a lot of liquids. Hope this helps.

I was told not to take Tums-can't recall why, but I thought they weren't good for you. I took chewable Maalox and and now on Prilosec twice a day and doing good, but I had big issues in the beginning. Maybe you need a different ant-acid? Talk to your doc about it. You do have to drink slowly or it will come up and that is normal. Sip, sip, sip. I am a week ahead of you and still pretty much on the same diet you are so I wouldn't be too concerned. BTW, V8 Splash is probably not that good for you if you are having acid issues. It is probably making it worse.

Thank you so much for your response, so I have a one more question for you. Do you take prescription strength prilosec or over the counter? thanks for the advice

I'm just a week out and the heartburn was killing me. I'm taking over the counter prilosec, but my doctor said they would do a prescription med if they had too. If it doesn't work call ur doctor. I'm no mushy foods and I feel like it just sits in my throat for a couple of hours before it goes on down, idk. i'm use to get me a drink of Water to help things move on, but you can't do that, I did the other day and thought I was gonna die. I hope it gets better for you.

I was sleeved on September 27th also and just this week I am finally being able to cut back a little on the acid reducers. I had been on a prescription acid reducer for years before the surgery so thought I would never be able to cut back, but I am only taking it once a day now instead of twice. I would definitely contact your doctor and ask for something prescription. And if what they give you doesn't give you any relief ask for something different. Not every medication works for everyone - you sometimes have to try a few to find what works best for you.

Good luck. It will get better. My first two weeks were AWFUL! And then my third week things started turning around. . .

I too, had unbearable, heart burn and sour stomach for a week or two. I'm not almost 6 weeks out and am fine but my Dr recommended 60 days of Prilosic. Not sure if it is that or just been awhile but it is working.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
