I would love to have everyone share their top ten reasons why they want the surgery or the top ten thing they love about having the surgery(for the ones already there).

I think this would be fun, we all have our motivations.

My To Ten Reasons for Having Surgery:

1)So I can control my PCOS

2)Not feel like an elephant on a treadmill

3)Not feel like an elephant on a broomstick when on a bike(It's true I refuse!!)

4)Be able to try sex positions I haven't in years!

5)Walk into Forever 21 with a hand full of bags and a new attitude!!

6)Be able to wear my wedding ring(instead of the fake one I had to buy because I gained weight!)

7)Keep up with my three boys and run around like a light feather playing soccer with them.

8)Visit my family in South america whom I keep telling that I don't have money to buy tickets and posting head shots online so they don't realize how fat I got!!

9)I have to be honest...I want to walk down the mall(purposely) and see how many people agree that I got it goin' on!!

10)The Husband...I want to see which way the cookie is going to crumble but I must admit I love him, I miss those times he used to want me anywhere those were fun hopefully he can have fun with the new me too.

VSG was my 2nd WLS, and I had to get rid of my band.

But, my top reasons to have WLS were:

1) To get pregnant, and have a happy/healthy pregnancy and deliver a healthy/happy baby

2) So that I could be more active

3) To avoid a life riddled with obesity-related conditions and diseases (I didn't have any co-morbidities pre-op)

4) Change my relationship with food, learning to eat to live instead of living to eat

5) Just feel better in general

Those are my Top 5, I'm sure there's more, but right now that's all I can think of.

Good thread! Here are mine:

1. I am/was terrified of hitting my 50s and having to battle obesity related-diseases -- I had no co-morbidities pre-op, but I have a family full of diabetics and those with high blood pressure.

2. I wanted my children to see me as I see me (I don't see myself as fat, just overweight ) seriously, I wanted them to see me "normal" before they were too old.

3. I wanted to be attractive to my wonderful husband who has encouraged me through thick and thin (mostly thick).

4. I don't want to fear getting into a small airplane seat, sitting on a plastic patio chair for fear it will break, looking into an elevator to see if I can fit, worrying if I "flow" over into the next seat on the metro, etc.

5. I don't like sticking out as the "fat American" when I'm overseas.

6. I want to be able to buy attractive clothes that are worth the money.

7. I want to be able to participate in sports, go hiking, ride horses, be active without fear that I will not be able to, that I will "break" the horse, that I can be one of the gang.

8. I want to be introduced as me and be seen as me without worrying if people are thinking, "ugh, who is that fat person?"

9. I want to cross my legs, sit on the floor, do things that I physically cannot do right now.

10. Most of all, I just want to lose weight to be healthy -- I know I said that before, but I think that if I just got to a healthy weight, all the rest would follow :)

2) Because I want to walk down the street and NOT see people look in the opposite direction as they walk by me.

3) Because I want to be able to shop WHEREVER I want and not have to stick to Walmart or overpriced dept store Woman sections

4) Because I would love to go out dancing with my husband and not feel ridiculous in tight clothing or a dress.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
