Tanning Beds w/bands

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon All.........This might be a silly question but I just have to ask as I look at my WHITE body!! Is it ok to use a tanning bed with the band? My concern is that I have tanned in the past and have had some internal burning (new bulbs and tanned to long!) Has anyone heard anything about this? I went today and purchased an unlimited tanning session for the next month, but I thought I should of checked in with you all before I did this. I don't see my doctor until next Thursday and of course I want to start using my minutes before then. Thanks for taking the time to read............

I wouldnt have thought it would be a problem, but its not like you can ask these questions of your doctor because all you'll get is a lecture on premature skin aging and skin cancer.

My doc said that there is no problem with tanning with the band. I tan two to three times a week. But of course like what was mentioned earlier, when I did ask I got a skin cancer lecture. :faint:So just do it in moderation and you should be fine.

Thanks for the feedback! I will be tanning tomorrow!! I always feel better when I am not so pale white! Plus I live in hot Bakersfield and it's a sin to be pale white during these months! Happy Tanning..........:)

I was told than scars hyper-pigment so that it's not a good idea to tan that area of the body.

I too love tanning. I suggest you use SPF 50 on your scars, otherwise they will turn bright red and stick out like a sore scar (er...thumb)

I am a professional tanner, I have been using tanning beds for many many years with and without my band, never had a problem when I had my band. Just use little sunscreen over the scars or they will be darker then the rest of you. My motto was always tan fat always looks better then white fat!

I have an uneven arm tan/burn and i need to head to the tanning bed, covering up my arms so they don't get darker and try to get the rest of my body tanned. I wonder if SPF 50 on those tanned areas would do the trick, while other body parts get darker. Any ideas?

I'm surprised at all you ladies. You have surgery to better your health but then go tanning... :)

It's just not worth it to me, skin cancer is so serious and scary.

I have been using self tanner creams and bronzer and I look great, no burned skin necessary.

Yeah, I know :blah:

Jergens is ok but the better ones are a bit more pricey.

Try California North self tanning lotion. It's not a strong tan like most. It smells awesome too.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
