Need comments about Kaiser please

Recommended Posts

I need some opinions and suggestions. I am currently in the options class and I have 4 classes left. When I started the class 8 weeks ago my BMI was only 37. I don't have any co-morbities and I am afraid that once I finish the classes I will not get the authorization to get the surgery. The nurse who teaches our class says that if I got into the options class and if I complete all of the requirements then I should get the authorization once the class is over. I am very worried and I have not lost any weight because I do not want my BMI to drop any lower. So I would like some opinions and answers about the following questions. Do you think I will get the authorization once the class is over? Should I be worried? Should I try to lose weight? All comments welcome.

I was told I did not qualify and then Kaiser sent the paperwork saying I did.

I went to the orientation, had an EKG, Bloodwork ups. Set up my Options classes. I went to the Kaiser Bariatric Dr in Lancaster and after reviewing my chart he says I don't qualify because I am 10 pounds under the 40 bmi mark (I have 2 co-morbidity's). The Dr. said someone at the Options program screwed up by sending me the paperwork.

The fact that you are in the Options program is a good thing. Somewhere along the line before you started the program, someone of authority in the Weight Management/Metabolic Department approved you and referred you to the program.

As long as you complete the program and your assignments are completed (food, and exercise diaries, plus other assignments), you SHOULD be eligible for the surgery.

I was told that my qualifications would be based on my starting weight and BMI, so losing weight during the program would NOT result in the surgery being denied.

I completed Options on September 21st, and I am still waiting for the call regarding the next step. (they said it would be within 2 weeks)

At this point, I trust what I have been told by Kaiser, but that of course is subject to change within the next few weeks. I'll let you know.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
