Hi

I'm sorry you're still not feeling well. Are you getting enough fluids? I know when I had my lapband surgery I felt dizzy when I hadn't drank enough. Could you have a few sips of something before you get out of bed and see if that helps.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yes it sounds like a fluid/protein issue. Also make sure you are getting enough calories. I think a lot of times early out the low calories, lack of Protein and hydration really wreak havoc on us.

I have to agree with the above. When I don't get in enough fluids I get Dizzy and Nauseous. As long as I get 50 or more ounces of fluids daily I feel fine.

I agree with everyone above. I really only felt the extreme nausea a few days after surgery but really none since. The more time goes on and the more fluids and good nourishment I'm able to get in the better I'm feeling.

It sounds like you may be lacking in some things our bodies need desperately to survive. Get more fluids in, don't avoid it because you are afraid you will get sick. If you can't do it then you really need to seek medical assistance, likely you may need an IV to get you back on par to where you should be.

Good luck and let us know how you're doing. I hate to hear anyone having such a rough time this far out. Hugs! :tongue_smilie:

I agree too. Maybe keep a journal of what you're eating/drinking and track number of oz. you are getting in of fluids. Also track Protein.

I'm only a week out, but my goals are 60oz of fluids and 40g of Protein per day. I will increase the protein once I'm eating, but I will always try to have a min. of 60oz. fluids.

Hope you feel better!

thank you all. yes I think it was all the above and the last two days I have been keeping my Vitamins down and I have been eating every 4 hours. not a lot but more than I was and of course drinking more and the last two days have been the best since I had the surgery. thanks for all the advice. I didn't realize I was not eating or drinking like i should.

If it makes you feel any better, I have not been doing a great job with the Protein, and the fluids either. It seems like a chore to get it all down. I know I need to try better, and the nutrionist got on to me yesterday about it, but how can you get something down when it makes you sick to your stomach. Nothing taste good, and I just don't want to eat, or drink. But I am because I don't want to get sick. Hope things get better for you. My follow up appointment is October 22. TTYL sleeve sister.

Glad to hear you are feeling better! It can and will get better and better, but keeping up with our fluids and Protein is the biggest factors in play.

I'm glad you are doing better. You are on phase 4 I'm still on phase 3, but when I called Roberta was not there and I talked to some other nutrionist, who got on to me because I was not getting in enough Protein or liquids. I only got sick once when I ate to fast. I will be looking forward to that call. Keep me posted on how things are going. I know about the first apt and same surgery day, not to mention they confused us the entire time we were in the hospital. I will not forget when they told me I had my gallbladder out. Talk about scare someone to death.:biggrin0: lol Let me know how your appointment goes on the 6th.

when does the post-meal nausea stop? I feel like I can't eat anything without it making me sick, and it's ruining a lot of the (very few) foods I can have right now, since they seem incredibly unappetizing once they've made me queasy.

Is this normal? Will it subside over time? Really not happy about this part of it.

This is going to sound crazy but take a baby spoon and use it. that way you dont take too big of bites, and eat super slow. there is some stuff that eat that do not hit me good at all. I wait another week or so then try again. I hope you feel better soon trust me I understand. I am just now starting to feel normal.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
