Recommended Posts

Just wondering how much weight all you sleevers have lost by the 7 month mark?

im getting sleeved next month and im going on a cruise in the Spring. All i think about is how much weight i'll be down by the time I go on the cruise. Im hoping for at least a 70 lbs, that gives me an average of 10 lbs a month.

Are you all obsessed with the whole weightloss thing? its the only thing i think about now.

It's all I think about too. Can't wait to go to bed so I can get up and weigh myself. I know, shouldn't weigh myself every day. Anyway, I'm only at the 2 month mark but I've lost 30 lbs so far. An average of 15 lbs per month. I'm happy with that.

I just passed the 7 month mark. I had 68 pounds to lose and at 7 months, I was down 64.2 pounds. Just 3 pounds to go to "official" goal as of this morning!!!!!

WOW Tiff! That's awesome! :)

How often (and for how long) did you work out?

Do you exercise more or less now that you're in maintenance?

I didn't work out until I was 4 months out, and I focused on weight lifting and 1 day of cardio. At 8 months post-op, I had to have my gallbladder out. I quit working out, and I never got my mojo back.

I do not work out at all now. I'm too busy with everything else in my life. I went back to work part-time as a direct sales advisor for lia sophia, I volunteer on base with my squadron, and military spouse club, and I'm on our PTA board with my son's school. Add that on top of my active social life, I literally have little time to work out so I just don't do it anymore.

I'm sure I need to, and could lose more inches, but I'm content with how I look and feel at this point.

When I was working out, I lifted 3 days a week. I focused on a different area of the body every day, and I did 1 hard day of cardio and core training.

I lost about 85 pounds in seven months, but I have had skewed results because of complications, so I would say I lost 85 in five to six months, since I gained weight for a month or two after surgery.

I think 70 pounds is really doable based on your starting weight.

How exciting to have a cruise to look forward to, I bet it will be a great inspiration to you on your journey! best wishes!

I am at month 6 and have lost 71lbs. I have just got done with my stall finally! So Im not sure where i will be at my 7th month. Everyone is different as you can see. Our metabolisms and eating habits all play a role. My job keeps me active so I move alot where as some may have desk jobs. I woul dsay though that 70 seems to be around the norm though but dont be discouraged either way! Anything is better than where we started! Good luck! :biggrin0:

70 pounds in 7 months is doable. Don't let the very common early stalls discourage you, however, like some of us, you may not experience any at all. I was down a solid 95 pounds by 7 months - I'm almost 8 months out now and it's really coming to a standstill but I could be perfectly happy if this is where it stops as I've never weighed below 160. I'm in a size 6 and I'm 5'7" tall with ridiculous bones. I like to think I'm fairly muscular too, I ride my bike about 100 hard miles per week (worked my way up to that recently but started riding again right after surgery.) Watch the carbs, exercise, keep it honest and you'll do great! Oh, and yes, I did/do obsess about weight loss - I still weigh every day in the morning. It works for me and keeps ME honest.

65lbs from the actual date of the op, there was weight loss prior to that due to the preop diet.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
