Just cut my hair lady!

Recommended Posts

So this weekend I went to get a haircut from someone who had never cut my hair before. The odd scenario went something like this:

Me:Just a heads up my hair is kind of falling out I recently had surgery.

Her: What kind of surgery?

(kind of a personal question I thought)

Me:Weight loss surgery.

Her:Oh, (looks me up and down) so is it working?

Me:Yes, I've lost 80 pounds

Her: Wow, how big were you before?

Her:So is your skin going to get all weird?

Her: (as she holds my hair up) Wow, look at how thin this is?

My desire was to take her scissors and cut her (just a little) Guess I will be going back to my regular stylist.

I wonder if some people just have no tact? When those comments are made, I think do you speak to your friends and family in a similar manner?

I not only would have cut her, I would have slit her and dumped that antiseptic solution over her that is used to disinfect her little combs and scissors.

Ha! I've run into these types too. Was she normal weight or heavy?

A week before my surgery, I had to have labs done. The order came from Weightwise Bariatrics. The phlebotomist saw the order and then proceeded to tell me about 2 people she had known who had had weight loss surgery. One (according to her) had her health ruined; the other DIED. Sheesh, talk about insensitive.

Sometimes we just have to shake our heads and laugh---and then later vent here.

Anna - that's about the most "unkind" post I have ever read from you. You go girl!!!! You are human like the rest of us. :)

Whoa Mini you are so close to goal!!! That is awesome. And yes I did have some unkind feelings, but mostly I was amused everytime she would say something shocking the stylist next to her would flip around and look, it was nice that I wasn't the only one noticing how odd it was.

And Lisa she was thin and very well put together. It wasn't overly offensive to me because it was so crazy! I have had weird experiences where people want to advise me before, but this was a new one!

Haha, I feel you. You are too blown away by realizing how warped someone's thought process is to have time to be offended....happened to me on a number of occasions!

HaHa, I would have cut her where it REALLY hurts - her wallet. I would have stood up and told her that her verbal incontinence had just cost her quite a bit of money and that it would continue to cost her as I will be spreading the word about her behavior!!!

Thanks Anna. I'm feeling pretty awesome. Now that I am getting closer, I think I may drop my final goal to somewhere between 125 and 135. Not exactly sure where I will stop, but I'm sure my body will let me know.

Hard to believe I am really here. Still trying to wrap my head around my new size. I truly think I would have flattened that hairdresser. Good for you for restraining yourself!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
