I have been very focused since surgery and I feel like I have done well. Mostly it feels good to not feel like I don't have control of my own body. This weekend was my birthday and my mom's birthday. Three days where I didn't count calories/carbs but made sure I got my Protein in. Today was my back in the wagon day and it was so hard. I felt compulsive about food, still had a calorie deficit, but ate more food today then I had in 4 months.

Believe what you will about carbs and weight loss, but for me I can tell a difference in both appetite and craving after I have had higher carb days. I am very frustrated and having a difficult time not blowing this out of proportion. I am such a perfectionist that a big part of me wants to just do Protein shakes the rest of the week and make sure I lose plenty of weight. I still lost weight after this weekend, I'm still on track, so why did today bother me so much????

Wannalise -

Take a deep breath and look at your overall progress - it is UNBELIEVABLE!!! I totally know what you are talking about because I have been a bit out of control myself with carbs lately, and have been doing that negative self talk in my head. I really have to remind myself that THIS TIME I am not going to fail and neither are you my friend! Work on forgiving yourself......you are getting back on track and will be back in your routine shortly. I hope tomorrow is a brighter day for you:)

Without sounding to cheesy or preachy remember the devil is in the details. On the surface the sleeve can seem idiot proof but we forget the little self sabotage devil living in all of us. We cannot forget that this didn't happen in a few weeks and we had no problem eating cheeseburger or fries or pizza to excess but we can find problems with a change that doesn't fit our needs at the time myself at the top of the heap. We just need to try one meal at a time and remember to flaw is human to forgive ourselves is Devine

Pre-Sleeve, when I was a compulsive yo yo dieter, the cycle was perpetuated alot by my need to punish myself for my indulgences. I would be on a reasonable diet for a while... then blow it a little bit. That little bit of blowing it turned into a full on WTF binge. After the binge was over I had to get on track... but a part of me needed to punish myself for the binge. I would eat nothing but almonds for 3 days or do hours and hours of cardio. Of course all that self punishment led to another binge etc etc. I was horrible to myself.

Be kind to yourself.... embrace your indulgences and know that you will continue to move in the right direction. Maybe falling off the wagon and getting back on in a way that is loving to yourself is what you were meant to learn here.

take care

'I feel like I have done really well.....'

Wannalise - your ticker proves you HAVE done really well.... to all of us. There will be mental issues I'm sure we'll all come across at some point where we beat ourselves up abut not quite choosing what our dietitian would choose... but this is long term solution for us.

We all have to shed the diet mentality... the punishing ourselves for not picking the lowest calorie thing on the menu....we can do this now.... this will be how we will be able to live.

You're doing such a fabulous job, just do what you are doing..... don't do the Protein shakes all week... you're allowed to Celebrate your birthday and you still lost.... the sleeve rocks!!

I think that you are feeling a difference because of the higher carbs and it has been different. Don't be so hard on yourself just commit to getting back on track.

Anna ... just get back on that horse. You are doing AWESOME! You have the best attitude of just about anyone I know. You are a role model. So, today you proved yourself human.

BUT, you were still calorie deficient. Think of that as a victory. You "PIGGED OUT" and you were still better than your best day "dieting". You are awesome.

Tomorrow is a new day. You go girl!

There are plenty of times I clear out my body by going back to Protein Drinks when I've been falling off the wagon for a few days. I think it's the best way to get carbs out of your system.

Thank you all so much! It is true that sometimes we are going to do things differently then planned or we may over indulge (I hear even skinny people do that, who can say?) I need to learn how to deal. There is always that voice in the back of my mind telling me that even if I can lose all this weight, I can't keep it off. After having the chance to look and feel so much better it terrifies me to lose this awesome gift. Thank you all for your support and encouagement. It means the world to me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
