Just a rant- John Goodman-

Recommended Posts

Ok....this is just me ranting. Recently John Goodman the actor has lost what appears to be a lot of weight....he looks WONDERFUL. He was close to 400 pounds at one point. I don't know what's he's done to lose weight and in my mind it DOES NOT MATTER....so why the rant?

I'm angry becuase the internet is buzzing with how he probably "cheated" to lose the weight (i.e. surgery) or that this probably won't last since he's alwasy had a weight problem....its so ugly and non supportive.

I for one applaud any and all of us that fight this battle with whatever methods we choose. I think JG looks amazing and I hope he gets much more postiive feedback than the snarky things I've read and heard so far...and while I'm mentioning snarky....Jillian Michaels from biggest loser...is MEAN!

Ok...I'm done.

I like Jillian. I wish she were my trainer. That tough approach just works for me. :D

I admit that I used to pass judgment on those who had surgery before. I also viewed it as an easy way out. I was ignorant at the time just as many others are ignorant now. People are just misinformed. WLS is not instant weight loss. It is just a tool and you, as the person, have to utilize it and do your work.

Hollywood/media are all just so incredibly insensitive. They can brag about Heidi Montag's 10 plastic surgeries in one day, and while they may say she is obsessed and crazy, no one is telling her "she cheated". It reminds me of the Star Jones situation. She just didn't want to talk about her personal, medical issues. People were still horrible to her.

I'd like to slap the sass right off Jillian's mouth. Her approach is fine for some obviously, but quite frankly, she's just about as fake with her "you need to love yourself, have more self-worth" speeches after she breaks the fat kid in half or the 300lbs girl runs herself right off the treadmill and into a wall *Yeah that's the safe and effective way of training a morbidly obese person* (insert sarcasm). The whoring out of products really makes me sick because if you look at what she is selling, really it's no better than Metabolife with the exception of the Protein powders. All the other crap is just that, crap that all the people will buy and line her pockets.

I'll rant with you on this one chickee ! ! !

Why does it have to be a cheat? Why can't they see He (we've) may have tried everything he could but not succeeded, so gone to a method where he really has no choice but to alter his lifestyle, or loose his life.

(I don't know this Jillian woman... but will try and look her up, so at the moment can't comment on her.)

She looks darn good considering she used to be fat herself. She might be mean, but I would take her as a trainer in a heart beat. I like to exercise hard.

Jilian is a fraud. She now sells a "colon clense" product....oh please, why doesn't she just sell the abenergizer at the same time.

I think Jillian is full of it..I don't believe she was ever fat.She talks a good line but where are her fat photos. If anyone would want the world to see how she "overcame" being fat by proper diet and excercise it would be her. But just like Richard Simmons we have seen NO fat photos at all...She is a total fake and she may be inspiring to others but she cannot say she's been there. Seaview

This reminds me of Susan 'Stop the Insanity' Powter from a number of years ago.

Same thing .. no pics except one .. and she marketed her weight loss scheme based on this one photo.

The week before I left to have surgery I cleared out all the "diet" and self help books. I was talking to 4 others and was convinced that the sleeve would be the last tool I would need. So far, so good.

I've seen her but I don't watch the show. I have heard that some of the biggest losers regained the weight they lost once they were off the show. Anybody know if that's true?

I went to a fat boot camp in Vermont for a month and sure I lost weight when I spent the entire day doing hard exercise and eating the strict diet they provided. And when I went home I exercised more than I had before the boot camp, and I tried to fix only very nutritious foods. But once the obsession with dieting and exercise got shoved aside for living a busy work and home life with kids and their activities, I started regaining the weight and slowing down on the time I spent exercising.

I think if you can focus all your time and energy on dieting and exercise, you're one lucky person. Frankly there are a people who require a lot of time and as a mom, they came first. So that's what happened to me.

However, now that I'm sleeved, I can see that there has to be a balance between other people's demands on my time and energy and my own commitment to take care of myself. And I'm doing much better. It doesn't hurt anything that my kids are self-sufficient now too.

Last year sometime, I read an article stating that 60-70% of the contestants gain back more than 80% of the weight lost while participating in the competition.

For me, it's not realistic for me to be in the gym for 6-8 hours a day, everyday. Consuming 3-5K calories to compensate for the burning of calories, it's just not realistic.

I think the two fingers in two her eyes means "I want to poke my eyeballs out"

I refuse to watch that show, it is totally stupid. It makes normal people, feel like failures because they can't work out 8 hours a day, and pay for gourmet low calorie food. It is just a continuation of myths about being fat. There a bunch of antifatite, bigots and bastards in my opinion.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
