July 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Home from my banding yesterday by Dr. Valin at St. Rapheal's in New Haven, Connecticut. I feel pretty good although I had two bouts of nausua last night including some dry heaving. I was worried about a slip...but my Doc said today that I would have to have chronic vomiting to cause a slip. He sends everyone home with an anti-nausua prescription just in case.

I'm on my way. Thanks again for all the support and information.

Jack

New Haven, CT

how long did the little steri strips stay on you guys that had them? mine itch but dr said they would come off on their own

I still have steristrips on two of my incisions. Mine itch also, but I think it's part of the healing process. I did take my steri strips off yesterday, only the port still has them on. I don't want to take those off because it looks kind of bloody in there. I was banded on July 11, so one week post-op today.

Hi everyone...it's so fun to see everyone pass over to the "other side". My journey has been really good so far. I had shoulder pain that lasted until day 7 but other than that it's been quite uneventful. Time2Live and I had a blast with the whole experience! I lost 11 lbs. the first week and have been at a bit of a standstill since then. Constipation could be the culprit. I have gone, but not as much as I like. We are on the liquids phase, such as runny cream of wheat and creamy Soups, popsicles, and pudding and Jello. I am so excited to have my first bite of Protein. My strips fell off around day 7, and my bruising is doing well so are my incision sites.

Well, I am sending well wishes to all who are yet to go this month! You'll do great!! I am loving hearing from everyone who are newbies to "BandLand". It's so wonderful to have so many others going through the same things we are right now.

It's so exciting seeing that some of us are moving on to mushie foods.

Congrats on that!

I was banded on the 5th and i'm still on liquids and ff low sodium cream Soups when hungary.

I've been very surprised that i haven't been that hungary. Today the hunger started to hit a little so I'm sure tomorrow i might be starving but i'm trying to hold out.

I see my doctor Friday and he'll let me know then if i can move on. I wouldn't see why not. I've been doing fine on liquids and i haven't had any complaints so far.

Sounds like everyone is doing great.

Keep up the good work.

Morning all!! I threw around some cake and pizza in the june board. LOL The war continues. I read through their thread, and it is so nice to see what we will be facing. They all seem like a great group, and are close like the this group.

I lost a pound!! LOL I am down to 317. I am frustrated that everyone around me is losing, but me. But I am ok. I will wait till I get filled, then worry about my weight loss. I talked to my fill doctor yesterday and she wants me to come in for a fill in 3.5 weeks. It will be done under flouro, so that she can make sure it is perfect. If, within the first two weeks of the fill, it is not perfect she will adjust it for free. That is good since it will be 700 for me to have it done to begin with. 350 for the flouro and 350 for the the fill. Anytime after that outside of the 2 weeks is just 350.

My scabs are starting to come off, so i put some neosporin on them so the open sores don't get infected, and i have bandaids on them. I am so afraid of infection. LOL But my bruising is looking really good. mostly yellow now, with just a little purple here and there. DH still teases me that I look like a stabbing victim.

My steristrips took about a week to come off. There was one little bugger that was holding on by a thread that I had to help a little. I felt much better when they came off!

One week and one day post op and my port site feels quite tender, even sore when I push gently on it or brush against something. It also feels a little "warm". Is this normal or am I just being paranoid about infections?

Not banded Anaed2, but did have surgery, hmmmmmmmmm, I remember stitch sites being warm, I thought it was that they were healing. Don't get paranoid, but do phone or ask your doctor.

I am under the knife in 2 days and pooping my pants for lack of better description. So scared, not of the surgery but of the unknown.

Glad I have all of you to bounce my head games off.

On my way to the big city of Vancouver tomorrow morning.

hugs to all who went before me and those to follow.

Where is the scared smilie? :phanvan

Yesterday I started getting a pain in my neck, and it has continues today. Feels like tight muscles, but I know it is pain from my diaphram. Problem is, I don't have gas LOL My diaphram is irritated for some reason. I get this pain when i breathe in deeply. So it is definitely my diaphram. Not sure what to do about it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
