Oh man, I tried drinking a beer, made it about 1/4 of the way through the bottle and felt like my stomach was going to explode. I was so uncomfortable.

Yeah I've kinda given up on beer, which is sad because it was one of my first true loves.

However, that love left a mark on me -- a big ole beer belly!

From now on, when I'm clear for booze, I'm a vodka collins man!

This makes me sad because I homebrew with a friend and the beer we make is so good, but if it?s something that has to go then so be it, Crown and Water for me please.

I am 6 months out, but occaisionally have an MGD64. It does leave you feeling very full. Just be careful not to pick up habits of eating and drinking at the same time - very easy to do with beer.

Honestly, I'm kinda turned off to booze since the surgery. I really can't drink enough to get much of a buzz (from a volume perspective). I can't drink much beer at all. And I find that the after effects are much stronger -- 2 or 3 drinks and even though I don't get very intoxicated, the next day I feel hung over.

It's to the point where it doesn't really seem worth it. I guess that's for the best, health-wise, but still it's a little sad to say goodbye to all the fun crazy times...

I was banded before sleeved. Maybe Im wrong, I know when I was banded I couldn't have any carbonated beverages. Can you have them now that I am sleeved? I haven't had a beer or soda for over 3 yrs. now.

It is different with the sleeve for sure. I had a drink the other night and since I couldn't have coke I opted for a Amaretto DiSarono on the rocks. It is sweet but low alcohol content and went down smooth, didn't even get a buzz. Haven't tried bear yet.

hahaha. . .I wouldn't want to try a bear either! I am about 10 months out now and seriously enjoy my rum and coke every weekend! Not to the drunk point mind you cause the sleeve won't allow that. :o But if you allow your coke to defizz a bit (sit around for about 1/2 hour) and then mix your drink, you'll find it works great. I hate beer so i don't drink it, so i couldn't tell you about that but it probably will fill you up really fast cause of all that foam in it!

I thought I read that you would become intoxicated faster with the sleeve due to how the alcohol is absobed in the stomach. wrong?

Nope, quite right, now i get that nice buzz with just 1 or 2 drinks. . that is my limit though, no more than that. . it dissappears as fast as you get it too, so you can reassure the buzz is gone after about 2 hours.

My experience as well - but more like an hour. And, wine makes me REALLY sleepy.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
