My Stomach has 4 Days to Live

Recommended Posts

My surgery is on Thursday, early in the morning. I'm starting to get nervous!

On a positive note, when I weighed myself this morning, I weighed 319.6 (down from 330). That must be an error, because I can't believe that my low carb (but not low fat or low cal) diet made me lose 10 pounds in a week!

Hi

You must be excited but nervous....I can't wait until I have only 4 days to go... if it wasn't for having to go back to England for a wedding I'd book in earlier!

How are you finding your pre op diet - is it a liquid one or just the low carb food?

Way to go for loosing 10lbs in a week tho!!

Kathy

It's getting closer! I'll tell you what everybody told me..you're going to do fine.

I'm still 5 lbs up from when I went in for surgery but I was like 14 lbs higher when I first got home!

and yes i think it IS possible to lose that much...I lost 12 lbs in 1.5 weeks just from getting off sugars and forcing myself to have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch (Which I usually skipped altogether)

I lost 20 lbs the first month post op. After that, 10 lbs per month the next 5 months. Heavier folks lose faster at first. Since I'm 7 months out, my loss has slowed as I get closer to goal...I expect it will be only about 5 lbs this month. Time will tell. I am so happy with my sleeve!

That is a positive note! I had no pre-op diet but I choose to do one on my own just because I was NOT doing this thing as a quick fix--I knew any weight that I would lose would be permanent and I used this opportunity to move closer to my ultimate goal. You are 10 pounds closer to your goal now. Don't even weigh yourself post-op for a couple days because you retain Water from the procedure and your swollen and bloated at first. Then poof it just flushes away--literally. All of that to say don't judge any of your goals post-op until you get past the bloated post-op feeling. We are close in our starting numbers so it is good to see your progress!

Good luck with everything. Good job with the weight loss already.

I thought your thread title was funny!! I asked my doctor if they could give me my stomach back after surgery in a jar and he looked at me like I was crazy. I told him I hated it and wanted to burn it for a new start..lol He then asked if I was a pagan...hahaha!

Oh well, to each their own. I thought it was a good idea.

Yeah, I've been hoping for the magic 50 lbs in 6 weeks that I've seen a lot of guys about my age manage, and I realized today that if I'm down around 315 by Thursday (surgery day), 50 lbs would put me at 265. That's nearly 250.

I don't think I've been under 250 since I was about 18 years old.

Thanks! I have a similarly dark sense of humor. I had a coworker suggest that I get my stomach remnant and dry it out and have it made into a "leather" fanny pack. That made me shoot coffee out of my nose :)

HAHAHAH! I bet in another country you probably could do that.

LOL!

Love the title to this thread - it made me laugh! I just had my last unrestricted meal because I start my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow. I'll be waiting to hear how you do. Although I'm sure you'll do great!!!

My stomach now has less than two days to live, and my weight is 315.6 (down almost 15 pounds from my starting weight). If this diet wasn't such a bear to keep up with (I'd kill for a bagel right now...) I'd almost be tempted to just go with the diet alone!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
