Um... endowment?

Yes, yes, shallow and silly. So what?

I can tell you you'll end up with no more than you started with. the difference is that you'll notice it all rather than just what outside the fat pads. I sure your girl with too.:D

Yeah, when my Husband gained weight his manhood decreased. I believe the fat pad is called a "turtle"...lol. He was definitely more endowed when he was thinner. My pad has gone down as well and sex is definitely more gratifying. Sex is always better when your thinner...period. wink.gif

Thank you for this thread...I just joined and it's good to know I'm not the only one. I've noticed everything from the lack of libido to the visual appearance (or should I say disappearance) over the last year or so as my weight rose. It's a hopeless feeling.

I've been on my liquid diet for just over a week and scheduled to get sleeved next Tuesday. I've already noticed a bit of improvement in, let's say, 'function', and I'm really looking forward to getting back to what I used to be! I've been heavy since I was a kid, and I've had the abdominal fat and pad all my life, even when I've been slimmer over the years. Does the pad totally go away, or has anyone needed to resort to Lipo or something to completely get rid of it?

I made my nonsleeved hubby read this......just sort of as a little encouragement for him to maybe take a little initiative in watching his weight. Hey, I want him to be around as long as I am and still "in the mood"!!!!

Congrats!!

And I read on some health site that the average overweight man loses 1 inch per 35-50 pounds he is overweight due to the 'fat pad'.....

Some of these calculations and statements are funny but I will say theres a definite difference and it's all for the better...

I've lost almost 320 lbs and it definitely has helped in this area tremendously

Great topic this! I am 8 weeks out from VSG and 60 lbs lighter. For some years my blood pressure meds have caused impotence. I have used Viagra with some success but now use Cialis as it lasts for 3 days (the medication that is, not the erection) and alcohol doesn't interfere with performance. My experience is that I have been transformed into a teenager (in terms of performance not that I have lost half a brain). My wife is pleased with the results. Another side effect is that I believe that the erection is bigger for the simple reason it is maintained at full strength for longer. I have come off one of 2 fairly strong BP meds and am hoping to reduce this further. It should be interesting to see what happens impotence wise. There seems to be some improvement already but Cialis gives you such, how shall I put it, confidence, that I may not want to stop using it. This lack of confidence also happens to men as they age, so Cialis is a bit of a wonder drug in my experience, tho' fairly expensive and needs a prescription (at least in Australia). This seems like a great topic for a clinical trial.

Okay, okay, I know I'll get a whole lot of "size doesn't matter" responses to this, and it's embarrassing to even ask. However...

To us guys, our "endowment" is intimately tied to our self-esteem. Now, on that front, I'm doing okay genetically speaking, but, well, I'm fat. Obese. The result of that is that I have a big gut hiding... things from me, and a fat pad above the pubic area that also makes stuff look smaller than it really is.

Any guys (or gals for that matter) know if losing the weight will make the, um, package area more prominent?

I know, I know, it's silly and shallow, but then again -- isn't all concern over our appearance silly and shallow? I'm not counting on a dramatic change in this area, but it would be nice to have that uh... little REMINDER that "hey, I'm a man after all!"

Anyone?

Also, to the medical geeks out there, my total blood testosterone went from just over 300 prior to the VSG, to just under 600 about 9 months later (and holding steady). The end result is that EVERYTHING is harder and firmer and, well, bigger, down there, and my morning wood is back (yay!) and my muscles and endurance are showing the improvement, as is my mood and concentration. And my libido is... slightly crazy. The only downside is that I now actually NEED to shave at least once a day, and if I'm not careful, I'll grow hair from all kinds of awkward places. But that's a small price to pay!

So, while I wouldn't say I'm a teenager again (heck, I was obese as a teenager; I never WAS a teenager in that sense!) -- I'm not stupid and impulsive and rude -- I will say that losing 100+ pounds has been the best thing that ever happened to my sex life. Period. I only wish I could have had this when I was in my 20's instead of at age 40... but I'm still not going to pass up on the fun ;)

Went from 0 times a month to 4-5 times a day and it's been only a week since surgery.Good thing there is more than one recipient of this newly found fortune to pass it around. I do know the first time I "cashed" my chips in, at the time of release there was a huge tug just under my sternum. I'm thinking where the hiatal was fixed. I stoppped for a moment, thought about it, assessed the situation and all looked good so I pressed on. No wondering after that.

I'll have to run that by the Doc. when I see him. Actually I have a fitness class with the Dr's office's personal trainers tomorrow. I'll see if it's a question that can make them blush. I ain't afraid.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
