[R&R] Lying ba*ds!

Recommended Posts

[Rant & Rave!]

I have found a situation that I want to rant about, and while I could have done so before, seeing the new forum triggered the rant :(

Clothing manufacturers. They are a bunch of lying bastards. Yes. I said it.

Why is it, I can buy 2 pairs of pants. Pair 1: 44 inch waist. The second, 46 inch waist. I can wear the 44.... but not the 46???

(this is in the past mind you, they both damn near fall off me now).

What the heck, is there a world shortage of tape measures?? Did I get shorted on material??

Bastards!!

Okay. I'm done :)

What you'll generally find is, the higher the price, the lower the size you'll wear. The designers will blame "cuts" and "designs" but I always wear a size or two less in more expensive clothing. Bottom line... try it on before you buy.

I think you've just been told to stay out of Walmart :(

Sorry, couldn't resist that one. You should be wearing Silver Tab or something from Macy's you know with a huge price tag on it. That way I guess you get the size you want.

Maybe...well maybe they were marked wrong...

Sending good wishes your way.

It really depends on the fit model actually. some lines have a very good fit model (the person they say is the average and tailor the clothes to fit) and some of them use very out of proportioned fit models. its sad really. But you can get a good fit or a bad fit no matter what size you wear.

Wal*mart?? Are you kidding me?? I can't afford to shop at a high falootin (sp) place like that!!

Hell, if I pay 20 bucks for jeans I sob hysterically!

Can you say cheapskate!!

I think the irony for me is the waist. Gal's clothes have those wierd number sizes, I'm fine with that. Guy's clothes are measured in inches. INCHES!!

Bah!! 46 can not be smaller than 44 in the waist!! Bah!!

As an aside, I'm now in a 38 inch waist :( thats 12 inches removed from my waist in less than six months. I love having to gripe about this stuff.

Dawg,

Welcome to the world that women have been dealing with their whole life. Not only does no two pair of pants the same size fit alike, but tops, bras, shoes, etc.... The problem is the inspector has an exceptable range for a size... not an exact science, and women come in all shapes and sizes. One size does not fit all!

You are amazing Dawg!! You are piggy-backing your lovely wife and losing wonderfully. That shows some great strength and support of Susan on your part. Kudos to you.

The Walmart was only a joke. I know how pricey that place can be :(

Trust me women's sizes get pretty confusing also...but they are sized differently.

Continued good luck on your journey.

And here's me thinking, "oh, last time I was a size 16 I was about 75kg" and now I"m a size 16 at 90kg! Sizes have changed a LOT over the years.

But yeah, that's just numbers. When clothes are measured in inches there should be no way a 46 can be smaller than a 44!

Kids clothes are what really drive me insane. You dont take a 3 year old shopping and try all the clothes on her. Its impossible, you jsut cant do it. You have to just buy them, yet the sizes are all over the place, even from one store.

How can you not afford it? Insurance, savings, financing, second mortgage on the house. There are lots of ways.

We go bumping along in our lives making decisions that seem so important, but if you don't have your health, you can't have or enjoy life.

The husband of my friend really needs WLS and is not doing it because he need to put the kids through college, etc. This man is 60 years old. It's time to stop worring about the kids. If they want to go to school, they will figure out a way. He may not be around to see them graduate if he doesn't take care of himself.

My band surgery cost $10,600. My car cost $20,000. Which one is more important?

I'm fortunate in that I had the money in savings to have the band. If I didn't have the money, I would have borrowed money from a bank and payed it back in monthly installments, just like a car payment.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
