You are not horrible! I am looking forward to running into the "popular" people from high school, that gave me a hard time for being overweight. I'm pretty much over it, but a lot of them are heavy now, so I think it would be poetic justice! lol

I think all of us feel that way in one way or another! Although I made this choice for myself and my future, I would love to rub it in some peoples faces along the way!! All the people that looked down on me for being fat, or made fun of me, or dumped me because I wasn't good enough! I want them all to see what a great person they missed out on!

As I lose the weight I feel my self confidence and self esteem returning, and it feels great!! Even if I don't get the chance to show off my new self, everything that I have gained from this experience is enough for me!!

The anger that we feel for all the years we were discriminated against can be put to good use...we can use it to actively promote "good karma" by loving others and showing acceptance of those who suffer like we did with obesity. What goes around comes around...let the universe take care of those who have offended us, is my philosophy!

That's my goal anyway. I'm not perfect at it, but keep up the effort.

I have an acquaintance who gloats at others' misfortune and goes out of her way to "rub it in". That is offensive behavior to me. When I see her behave like that, it's a lesson for me on how not to act.

PS I'm not saying you are a bad person for your thoughts...we all have such thoughts....just try not to act on them and you will grow in wisdom and grace.

I love it! And I totally agree with Cajun, but there is nothing wrong with feeling good about yourself!! I am hoping to be able to take a family picture this fall to send out Christmas cards. I never let myself be in pictures and I would just love to feel good abbut myself and, hey, if my ex boyfriend (still friends with his family) happens to see it, all the better! :(

Ohhhhhhhhh woman, seriously are we twins separated at birth? ? ?

I decided one night to stalk my ex on Facebook. And, ohhhhhhhhhhhh the sheer pleasure I had when I saw he hasn't aged well, and is FAT. Plus, his skankyliscious whore of a wife is still fat and UGLY. I mean it's okay that she's fat, but he married the ugly fat one. She was a friend of mine, and they were screwing around behind my back. I made a Confession in the "confession time" thread about it all.

Cajun, I love your philosophy! I so believe in the "what goes around, comes around" theory . . . The majority of the time i treat people how i would like to be treated, especially the elderly, I love elderly folks, even the onery ones. . . one time I came into a elderly patient's room and smiled at him and said "good morning" . . . he looked at me and grumped " Why you so happy, what you smiling at" I just looked at him and said " I smile for those who can not" . . . that poor man, began to cry, I sat with him and held his hand, he told me no one had ever said something so nice to him before . . . you know that patient never gave me a hard time after that, i would catch him walking the halls and he'd wave and wink . . .the other nurses always asked how did you get mr . . . to be so nice? I never shared my story with anyone except y'all. . . thanks for listening. . .

I think your feelings are pretty normal. I have friends who feel this way about ex boyfriends and husbands and high school/college acquaintances, not just regarding weight, but jobs, houses, kids, etc.

I don't really have anyone in particular that I want to see the "new" me because I don't think anyone ever really treated me horribly (I'm probably just too oblivious), BUT I have thought about getting professional pictures taken with my husband and send them out as Christmas cards or something just to kind of "show off." I know it's silly because I'm a grown person, but I just kind of want everyone to know that I actually was able to lose weight and get healthy after a whole life of trying to struggling to do it.

LOL,, Tiffykins,, where do you come up with words like "skankylicious" !! I love that word, hope you don't mind if I use it as well.

I have an ex or two that would give me a hard time about being overweight. I would tell them I was like this when they met me. They would say,, "but I thought you would change". LOL.. Well, I did but it wasn't due to their remarks, as they were so long ago.

When my ex-husband (father of my son) and I split, I was skinny, mainly because of all the rubbish he'd put me through (but we won't go into that here). I haven't seen him for many years and my son is now 27, I'm extremely happily married to my husband (we've been together for 21 years and married for 18 months). Well my son got engaged a week ago - ten days after I had my surgery. I am thrilled about this and they are planning to get married sometime next year. It suddenly dawned on me that my ex-husband will probably want to be at the wedding and it would be so good if I could be looking slim and healthy rather than like a broken-down Mr Blobby.

I would never knowlingly rub anyone's nose in it, so to speak, but it would make me feel a whole lot better if I was looking a whole lot better! xx

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
