pseudotumor cerebri

Recommended Posts

Hey has anyone had pseudotumor cerebri? And along with it had the lumbar/peritoneal shunt placement? Did you have any trouble getting the sleeve after that? Did they do the surgery anyhow? I have a LP shunt for pseudotumor cerebri and asked the doctor if there would be any problems about 2 days ago and he hasn't responded. . . i find that weird. . . maybe someone can answer this question for me. . .I sorta concerned now

Hi thinoneday, I don't know the answer to your question but probably the doctor has just forgotten. A quick google shows that weight loss will most probably help the condition so getting the sleeve could be a God-send for you. I wish you all the best and good luck.

Jane

Woman, your big words had me googling, and checking out WebMD because I had no clue about any of it. I agree with Jane that the weightloss will help with the symptoms. I would definitely bring it up to the surgeon, and then ask if you should watch for anything specific.

Hey guys! I got my answer back from Dr. and he says after talking to a neurosurgeon, I'm still a go. . . he'll still do the surgery regardless of this shunt being in place. . . I was so happy to hear this. . . my appt to visit with him, the nutritionist and the shrink is on the 20th. . . can't wait! Chat laterz!

Tiffy, you are so funny! Pseudotumor Cerebri isn't a big word! It's a pain in the derriere what it is ! I'm glad there is another person around who "checks it out" when you don't know what something is. . . I did that with the kids when they were growing up. . . they'd ask me "mom what does ??? mean" I'd tell them to go get Webster and find it, then read it to me and tell me, cause I didn't know. . . pretty soon it when they'd ask "Mom what does ???? mean", they'd answer themselves, "go get Webster, because I don't know". . . hehehehe:lol0:

One step closer MtnLover ... 20th will be here before you know it!

Thanks, but now watch I'll pass the doctor visit, pass the nutritionist visit but fail the shrink cause he'll/she'll think I'm nuttier then they are! :w00t: hehehe. . . . shrinks have a way of making people incompetant even if they are normal. . . (but then what is normal?):glare:

DON'T EVEN PUT THAT OUT THERE -- no negatives allowed ... and the new normal is abnormal anyway ... LOL

How did your surgery go? Did it "cure" your pseudotumor?

I have PTC. I will be having surgery on the 10th. My neuro ophthalmologist encouraged/recommended the surgery. So hopefully it will help!

That's great! I'm having to appeal for my insurance but was wanting to find others that have had the surgery and PTC. To see if any success with weight loss :)

I had PTC. My symptoms went away with a spinal tap. I never thought about it being an issue for the sleeve. I think because I didn't have extreme issues with it it won't be a problem.

There's actually studies out now saying having the sleeve helps PTC bc of getting the weight off the patient. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
