I would like to know how many people who have had lap-band success; who's main eating problems are grazing and night eating!

That is still my problem even with the lap-band (2 fills only and very minor restriction).

I want to see if some of the most known and successful members like - mis73, b-52, guymontag, lellow, carolinagirl, ladyvs,kll724, jean mcmillan, hazelsbliss ... had the same eating problem and how they succeeded.

OF COURSE JUST BECAUSE YOUR NAME'S NOT IN THAT LIST ABOVE; doesn't mean that you should not respond!

I need everyone's help!

Those are actually my biggest problems- grazing and night eating. Heck, I gained 7 pounds last Christmas because I spent a week grazing on sugar Cookies and snacking on various treats all night long. Night time is like a double whammy because not only do I want to mindlessly snack but I want pure sliders, like chocolate or chips. It's pretty dangerous.

The only way I can control it is by keeping my weakness foods out of the house. For instance, I can keep potato chips and Doritos in the house for my family to eat without a problem but I can't keep cheese dip or french onion dip with them or I'll eat it all. I keep Little Debbie brownies in the house because I can live without them but I don't dare bring a box of Nutty Bars into the house or I swear it'll be gone a day.

Sometimes, that urge to graze is there regardless of the food. I don't care if it's string cheese and sugar free pudding, I just want to habitually graze on it. When that happens, I try distracting myself with either a long walk or a bath. It may sound weird, but for some reason taking a bath (at night) flips a trigger in my mind that says "oh we're done eating for the day". I know I can't (shouldn't) eat past 7pm so I really try to distract myself if I feel like eating then.

Btw- it doesn't mean I don't ever give in to night time eating and/or grazing. I'm human and I do. I just know I have to dust myself and regain control the next day so it's only a one night mistake not a week or month long one.

It's hard but it's possible to control :)

I was banded on 12-28-2012 and have lost 50 pounds. I stalled this summer losing and gaining the same 5 pounds. I have had 4 fills. I saw my Doc. yesterday and he told me to slow down when I eat. I get pain in my left shoulder when I eat to much or have a stuck episode. I am losing inches so I know my body is changing. I am a success!!!!!

I was banded on May 1 13 and I have lost 67 pounds total that is pre and post op. My port was removed on Sept 10 and I still have great success! Sundays are my triggers days because of sports. Sometimes a grazes sometimes I do. If I feel like I over did it... I work out another 10 mins. Since I know Sunday is my "free day" I normally burn 350 to 450 calories. If I want a late night snack Cheetos Puff corn is my choice. I know I am not perfect but I always remind myself that tomorrow is a new day.

Sorry to hijack but I have to ask: your port was removed but not the band? Does this mean no more fills? I haven't heard of this - very curious!

Back to thread- I have trouble grazing as well. I do my best to do what Missy does, keep trigger food out of the house!

I was banded on June 12th and I have lost 92 pounds which includes the pre op diet. I was a grazer and night time eater as well. So far I have had only one fill so far. The head hunger still comes and goes but I try to schedule a small snack 3 hours before I go to bed. That seems to help with the night eating. I have also tried to replace my addiction with food for walking. If I want a treat, I gave to pay for it with exercise first. It is working good for me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
