I am twelve days out of surgery. I am on puréed foods. How many calories have others tried to stay under? Most of it I have been at about 600 but today was at 1000 and worried I had to much.

I focused on Proteins first, then hydration. Small bites, chew a lot(mush). After 12 days I was going crazy not chewing- for awhile you think you have lost that skill- but don't worry. Gum helps. Just don't swallow the gum!!! ???€

You don't have hardly any restriction at this time, other than what was in your band when placed. You will gain some weight back before your first couple of fills then you will be doing fine.

You should be fine with what you ate.

I don't count calories. By eating right and focusing on Protein first the calories take care of themselves. I was told to use a saucer size plate and fill half of it with protein. The other half is 1/3 starchy carbs or fruit and the other 2/3 of that half is low starch/good carb veggies. That system works well, no need to count calories or measure food.< /p>

first month is for healing as you had major surgery

way to early to be stressing on calories..let your body heal, get your Protein in...get your mind set ready and let yourself bask in the afterglow of WLS...its a process....in reality, to gain weight you must eat more calories than you burn off...3500 is a pound ate or drank)....you will do just fine honey..promise.

My Dr. told me not to worry about calories for the first 6 weeks.. mainly get your Protein and Water in.. also re: gum.. ask your Dr. mine is adament .. No Gum ever.. he said if you swallow it ACIDENTALLY it would require surgery to get it out.. so it's not worth it to me.. He's pretty strict when it comes to the gum and carbonated drinks rule...

My doctor said 1200 calories, as long as you get over 600 but not more than 1200 you're fine.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
