I'm scheduled w/Dr. Drake Bellanger in Baton Rouge on next Wednesday, June 7 at 730am. I'm not on any type of pre-op diet (?) but I do have pre-op procedures scheduled tomorrow (upper GI, etc.) so maybe at that point I get a pre-op diet?

Anyhoo, I am very excited and just ready. I wish all of you luck tomorrow (I remember reading someone will be by themselves in MX...any chance you guys going to MX also can find her and watch out for her? That worries me a bit....)

Also to the other person who asked about informing their kids...I have a 4yo daughter who I've explained that I'll be in the hospital for one night to see the doctor who will give me a check up and make mommy feel like I have energy and make me less "Bouncy" (that's what she calls me...."I love you mommy, you're so BOUNCY, like a TRAMPOLINE!"...).:sleep We've had other issues in the family that required family members being hospitalized, so I think that's part of her lack of excitement/worry/interest ("Oh Mommy, I don't want you to get not Bouncy...hey, look, there's JoJo on TV"....)

Much prayers, well wishes, and hope to all of my fellow junebees!:)

OH! and a wonderful final meal! :hungry: :)

Love these smileys...this one just looks like my fiance :beard

Wow! There are a lot of us getting banded this month. Yeah! We will have a big support team! We will probably need it next month! As for the person going to Mexico alone... I have a friend who was banded in March who went alone and she told me they take very good care of you. Pick you up at the airport or border and take you to the Hotel and even check up on you at the Hotel. She felt very safe and had a good time. Anyone else who goes to MX please let us know of places to go or places to stay away from. My Dr. said it would be OK to have a Mexican dinner the night before surgery as long a I eat sensibly and don't overeat. I am looking forward to that!!!

Best wishes and happy weight loss to all of us! You are all in my daily thoughts and prayers.

Back and Banded today!

Hi everyone, just and update. Dr. C's office running a little late today so I was late getting in.

I actually left the office just within minutes of both of the ladies who were banded ahead of me and they were still in kind of bad shape. I got up and walked to the bathroom.

2 hour drive was 3 hour drive and I did get some sleep in the car. I am still up but just now taking a demerol and will be going to bed soon.

Dr. C said my liver was in GREAT shape!!!

well will update soon

!!!:omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: !!!i'm really starting to get nervous here!. i have to work tonight and i can't sleep at all. my mind is racing and the butterflies are churning. i keep going over and over in my head..."am i doing the right thing...what if it does not help me and look at all the money i spent...why can't i just have self-control...". i've never had surgery before (wisdom teeth removal doesn't count does it?) and scared about what could happen. i know i chose one of the best doctors around, but i can't stop thinking about this. i'm sure all bandsters have felt this way at some point. how do you calm your fears?

Let me say what a trip this has been. My family and I arrived in San Diego in one piece which was a huge triumph. On my last trip on a plane to Mexico we had way too much turbulance . Several people on the plane were crying and praying. Everything was falling out of the cupboards on top. Since I was seated near the window and my daughter was on my lap (she was 6 mos) when the plan tilted abruptly, everyone's food and drink spilled all over us. Since that day I said I would never get on another flight. All this time I was setting up this surgery it never occurred to me I would have to fly again until the night before. Once I realized I would be on a plane again I started to panic a little but my husband assured me everything would be fine. It turns out he was right. The flight was beautiful. We went to retrieve the luggage and there was a man there with a sign showing my name. We went with him to another location where the doctor's mother picked us up. Unfotunately, she did not have enough room in her car for my family, another girl and all of our luggage. so my husband, son and daughter stayed behind with most of the luggage while we went to the clinic. At the clinic the asked me some questions and did some tests. As I was in the lobby thinking about this surgery, I started to wonder whether or not I was doing the right thing. What if something went wrong? Who would cover the hospital bills? I actually called my bank to see if they could stop the cashiers check but they said they couldn't for at least 30 days since the funds were guaranteed. When my husband finally arrived I told him of my reservations. He told me to think about it carefully. He said maybe I was just tired because I had not slept the night before. I thought he was right so I slept on it. In the morning, I decided to go through with it. The gentleman at the counter asked If I needed to speak to the doctor because my husband had called them earlier and told them I was having doubts. I told him not to worrry, I was fine. As for the surgery, everything went great. The clinic is beautiful and absolutely immaculate. I was pleased with the doctors, anesthesiologist and nurses and nutritionist. They were all great. Please bare in mind I am only a day out and anything can change. I am in now way saying this is the best way to go. You must do your research as I did and make the best informed decision you can.

:girl_hug:

I wish you all the best! I will keep you posted on my progress.

Wow Dawn I am glad everything went well. Thanks for all the info. how long were you "out" for (in surgery)?

Cutiern, I understand how you feel. I am very nervous. I have been very busy though, so not alot of time to think. that always happens at night, so hopefully I won't have insomnia tonight. I just want it to be over with NOW! That way I won't have to worry about the "what if's" anymore. That seems to be the hardest thing for me. I think I will go to bed watching mindless TV----that always seems to put me to sleep. Hopefulyyou are not too tired and maybe working will take your mind off this.

by the way where do you work? I am an RN, although I dont work any more.

Jude and Dawn welcome to the banded side

:banana :cheer2: :cheer2: :banana

I'm so happy to hear that everything went well for you both. I can't wait to hear from the others that were banded as well.

Cutie RN --I feel your concerns as well. I've had the exact same thoughts cross my mind numerous times. Also, had my pre-op appointment last Wednesday. Need to focus more on the low carb diet this week. I haven't lost any weight (but I knew that already). Hummmm wonder how bad my liver will look :girl_hug: .

I'm also happy to see the new Junbies join our group. I appreciate the support as I know you all do. Welcome. And for the other Junebies, come on in --we would love to meet you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
