1400 Calorie a day

Recommended Posts

Lori I'm like you! I'm 1 month post op and I take in 1000 with exercise. I'm down 35 lbs so far. Working on taking in more Water . I can't eat any more than that anyway . My tummy would be stuffed !!!

And I can't eat the full 1000 calories at all. I normally stay at 550-750 calories . Not on purpose though .

If you continue to do this well, I would think twice about getting another fill. If you are full on 550-750 calories, you don't need a fill! I only ever had one fill. Don't get one just because they scheduled it. Every time I saw the doctor, I just said no fill this time!

The one thing I would add is to NEVER make a major decision that effects your health based solely on OPINIONS from on here. Discuss with your surgeon. Many people can't possibly getting the proper nutrition the body needs at 500-600 calories.

I remind myself that I didnt get to 475 pounds overnight - not gonna undo it over night. I'm down 70 pounds since June 1 (10 weeks) and it really started coming off when we upped my calories to 1800. (I am 6'1" and male so....). Have had 2 fills and another one this Thursday. I still feel no restriction so it's ALL willpower at this point.

Do you ever watch the ABC show Extreme Makeover? A couple of weeks ago, there was a guy on there that was losing very quickly and doing it with mostly liquid Protein shakes. When the doctor ran a blood screen to see if he was a candidate for skin removal removal surgery, it was discovered that he was extremely malnourished. He had to up his calories and get his Protein from solid sources. My nutritionists said almost the exact same thing to me a few days later. It really hit home.

I stopped counting calories about 6-8 weeks after surgery, with the blessing of my Surgeon and Nut...they advised me to eat when I'm hungry, and stop when the band says stop for portion control.........something I still live by today....

But if I had to guess I would say I average less than 1000 /day, and exercise off 1/2 of that.....some days are more, some days are less...

I'm old school....in other words the less you eat, the more you loose...or calories in versus calories burned.....

All this talk about starvation modes, metabolisms, etc, etc, makes my head spin.....

I simply eat when I need to, and not nearly as much as I did prior to banding, which is now making me skinny and fit as opposed to fat and unhealthy....

Its a lifestyle for me, something I simply do everyday without giving it a 2nd thought...I did not want to spend the rest of my life counting calories and dieting....diet is a 4 letter word and I will never do it again....

I'm totally with you! My surgeon told me to only eat when I'm hungry. I eat around 800-900 calories without exercise . But with it I burn. Abt 40% of it off . I don't eat only to be eating !

My surgeon has me on 800 cal/day (high protein/low fat)

My nutritionist has me on 80g protein/day & exercising (suggested 30 mins X 5d/wk) but I walk/jog on the treadmill 30 mins X 7d/wk.

I was finding it hard to get in all my Protein but started a new regimen:

Morning: EAS Protein shake & 4 scoops (equals 2 servings) Protein powder: total 170 calories, 4 carbs, 47g protein

--this kills my hunger usually 4 hrs but sometimes up to 6 hrs

Then I have food protein for 2 more meals

Had 1 fill (3cc) on post-op week 3 & next 2 fills scheduled at 1 month intervals.

Down 38 lbs from heaviest & 27 lbs from surgery (7/16/2013).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
