Hello All, I'm new to the site and very excited about my upcoming surgery. My surgery date is September 27th.

I think my hardest challenge will be the two weeks prior liquid diet but I am going to weather that storm and do what needs to be done!!!! ;)

Well I saw the Cardiologist Wednesday. He said all looks well,And he cleared me for surgery on the 6th.. but he wants to do a resting Echo of my heart.. and depending how that looks he may pull my clearance. My test is tomorrow, and I will know something by Monday they said. Friday the 30th, I am to start my Pre-op diet. (crosses fingers)....

I am so ready to begin my journey and get going with it. Its been a long time coming.

Hello all!

Just got the surgery date on Tuesday. My DH and I will both be getting banded on Sep 19th, assuming all goes well with the pre-op testing. It will be 2 days before my 34th birthday, so I guess we'll have to figure out how to get a candle into a bowl of chicken broth.

So far the clinic has been really supportive of us going together and, *knock on wood* the insurance company has been great with approvals. Either his dad or my brother is going to come into town to babysit us for the day of surgery and a few days after.

liquid diet starts on 8/30. I'm nervous about it, but I'm hoping that we can help each other stay on track. The fear of them not being able to do the surgery will likely scare me into staying on the straight-and-narrow!

Best wishes to all the September folks, wherever you are on your journey!

Hi everyone, I went for my pre-op and last visit with surgeon yesturday. I thought that I would be there for about 30 mins and then make the long 2 hour drive back to work....wrong!! After I met with the surgeon, I was told to go across the street to the hospital and get pre-admitted. That was a 1 hour wait, and then she put a wrist band on me and freaked out and told her that my surgery was not today. She says that I had to go to another part of the hospital and talk to a nurse. That was a 1 and half a hour wait and I had a whole lot of paperwork to sign and a bunch of pre-surgery scrub down stuff. I did not leave the hospital until 3pm. I have soooooo much information swimming in my head right now. I spent the better part of the afternoon going through the paperwork they gave me deciding what to put in my hospital bag and what to keep at home. Anyway, let's just say, my surgery is Sept. 3rd and I am overwhelmed. The surgeon asked me if I was excited and I said that I have not really thought about it because I am just trying to get through each day. I lost 4 more pounds since my visit on August 12th though. Anyway, I want to be excited like the rest of you guys.

Yes i have cheated a few times but i am trying my best. In fact i wss having a mental struggle about whether or not to eat a mini churro. But the runt71 asked someone else how they were doing and i snapped out of the trance. I have been so stressed that food consumes my mind. I have found that trying on some clothes that are too small helps. Also looking at myself naked in a full length mirror usually stops me from wanting to eat. Hang in there we...one way or another we can get through this.

:-). Everyone will slip. We just have to get back in the saddle.

I got my insurance approval for my Sept 13th ( yea I know it's Friday the 13th) surgery! I started my preop yesterday and I have the worst headache/ and I'm not a violent person but I would kill someone for a chips Ahoy. I'm worried about slipping up and I'm feeling some feelings if ...mourning. Like I'm parting with an old friend by saying goodbye to some foods that always were there for me. I'm just letting myself be sad and then it will pass , especially once I start losing!

I have not heard anything about needing an EDG. Is this normally routine pre op or just case by case?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
