First fill was on Monday and I am starving today!

Recommended Posts

Had my first fill on Monday and here I am on Friday feeling very hungry! I was told to expect to start being hungry by the time my next fill is due (on August 10th), but I was hoping not to be hungry this quick. Is this common especially during the first few fills??....I know they did not add much, but right now I don't feel any restriction. Since I started working out this week, maybe my body just thinks it's hungry?

I was hungry until I had several fills. I tried to get as many fills as possible as quickly as possible to get my band filled up! That's the best thing to combat the hunger. And DRINK DRINK DRINK lots of Water and fluids.

Bro Rob, my doctor has been veer aggressive with fills. My first fill, he added 1.5, and I was hungry constantly. I just had my second fill on Monday and he added 2.5 cc. Now, I really never feel hunger. It's a great feeling. You probably need to get filled more.

Thanks for the replies and pointers! My doc is more on the conservative side when it comes to fills...I will ask about adding a little more at my next appointment.

I had to talk them last month into 1.5 cc as they were going to add only 1 cc

I've been hungry ever since.

I had to talk assistant into 1.5 cc at my first fill last month. She was only going to do 1 cc.

I've been crazy hungry since.

:(

My doctor gave me 4cc at my first fill. He told me he was going to add as much as my band would take (up to 4cc). He said its more of a feeling with him and he can feel resistance while hes adding it if its too much.

Since that first fill its really helped. I can go 3-4 hours between meals.

I would talk to my doctor if I were you and see why they won't give more at each visit. Good luck!!

I don't actually see the doctor. Through this entire process I've spoken to him for less than 60 seconds (no exaggeration).

I wish I could get them to do 4 cc. At least they are having me come back in 2 weeks for another.

My first dr was pretty conservative, he went slow right from the beginning. I never had more than a 1cc fill ever. But I don't think that's a bad thing. It's very easy to push past the green zone to the red zone. I went from being yellow to green in 0.1cc. So especially if you're a new bander, slowly can mean you're more likely to find that green zone, especially when you don't really know what it feels like yet (unlike someone like me, who does).

Even knowing as I do, three fills ago, with a 1cc fill I was pushed too far and starting throwing up my own saliva. I had to get unfilled by 0.5cc and now have that same amount back, just in two fills instead of one big fill so that I could 'manage' the swelling after the fill. I probably need a little more than this even but big fills can cause more swelling and more problems in the short term even if you're not yet at green.

So don't be in a huge hurry to get big fills. That's my opinion anyway. Control your diet between fills and concentrate the fills on finding the perfect restriction instead.

I know you're right. I just have so much to lose I want to keep things rolling. Thanks for your feedback.

I know this is the hard part if the whole process. But if you can hang in there with monthly small fills it will be better for you in this whole journey.

Btw and FYI, herbal tea is known to curb hunger.

But most is not that great unless you like it. So what I did was found a chai herbal tea ( trader joes has one/red tea is herbal) that I add sf Syrup to and a dash of nf milk. It saved my butt during bandsters hell.

I get that. I get wanting to lose, because I, of course, wanted the exact same thing. But you can lose even when you're not in green zone. I lost most of my weight before I found it. But finding it made it EASY to lose the rest and easy to keep it all off. So I can't stress how important it is to find it, and how much easier it makes it for you when you do find it.

I'm sensing the importance of getting to green zone and see the importance of it. I've lost 42 nice June 12 and 67 since pre-op started on May 28

You don't have to wait until your next scheduled fill...call them and let them know you need a bit more. My doctor had no problem giving me an additional .5cc's to top off what I had gotten and it did the trick!

Call and request a tiny bit more, that will do the trick. I had to do that and my doctor didn't have a problem with doing it a week after my first fill.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
