Uninsured question

Recommended Posts

I am uninsured, so I will be self-paying, but my question is, are there any insurances that I could buy that would wind up costing me less than the surgery would cost me?

Every state should have on their web site an insurance site. I know MA does. Also some doctors are known to do things for cash. Blue Cross pays for WLS but I don't know how long you have to be insured before they pay.

Good luck. Maybe try a big city hospital and ask, questions are free.

Not sure where you live at and if the Affordable Care Act is going to impact you in October. I think you will have a difficult task finding a company like that. The insurance company is basically like Vegas, they are betting that they can make more than they have to payout.

You would have to buy insurance with a bariatrics rider and I seriously doubt you would be able to find an insurer who would cover you. It's like wrecking your car and then applying for insurance after the fact. If you go to work for a business that already has a plan that covers all employees, you would be grandfathered in but that does not sound like your scenario?

My insurance does not pay. It's written in the policy they will not cover bariatric surgery. I am paying cash but My Dr. requires $3500 down and I can pay $100 per month interest free. I think its well worth it. If you pick up a new insurance you will probably have to go through a year waiting period to have record of not losing weight on your own. It's a game with them. Good Luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
