So today is day 5 on my Pre-Op liquid diet. The first 4 days flew by and I was on cloud nine, I have not cheated or anything. I've been keeping a pretty busy schedule and tracking what I eat etc. This afternoon it all hit me, I started having pains in my stomach and honestly just feeling like I could just fall onto my bed and pass out. I've been drinking lots of Water and sticking to my diet %100. So really just seeking some advice, what did you all do when you hit a point during the Pre-Op diet that you felt stuck? I know it's called HELL for a reason but I just want to know if the pains and feeling faint are normal? I hope this passes and I start to feel like I did the first 4 days! 10 more days till surgery! I'm not willing to give in, that's not the problem, I will not cheat... but man oh man... The dizziness is intense. Thanks for any and all the advice. :D

When that happens to me, it's usually blood sugar and or Protein. May want to check with your doc just in case, but when I get like that, I really need some sugar and protein. It's been a long time since I was on the liquid diet phase, but I remember a Protein Shake with real fruit blended in (especially a banana for the potassium) really helped.

I made some tuna salad with albacore tuna, light Mao and dill pickle relish. I kept it in the fridge the whole time I was In my pre op diet. Whenever I would have those overwhelming feelings I would have 1 or 2 forks full. I kept pretty strict to the pre op diet other than the tuna and still managed to loose 14 lbs in 12 days.

I was thinking it may had been the blood sugar, but I was crossing my fingers that is wasn't. I will call my doc tomorrow to see if I can ad fruit to my 2 daily protein shakes! Thanks so much for the advice!

toward the end of week one post-opt I started feeling hungry so I started doubling up on the Jello, Popsicles and I had some frozen vanilla yogurt. it really did help me.

Yeah, the last 4 days I've only been having 1 snack a day but I think I need to have another inbetween meals, I'm hoping it'll help with the dizziness! Thanks! :D

Also ask if you can have broth. You may need some sodium.

oops, I totally saw that wrong. for the pre-opt diet is changed from the regular swansons chicken broth to cambells. I drained it and dranked the juice from that. I also got different shakes. a variety helps. if you need to add another shake. you could also phone your doctor to see what they suggest

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
