Did you return to work? If so' date=' how did it go? I'm off work, however; would like to get back. I have my first post op visit next Tuesday.......[/quote']

Thank you for asking, I did. I worked a half day yesterday and the full day today plus my doctor appt. My energy level is pretty low and still having port pain but luckily my job allows me to work around my restrictions. My doctor appointment was great. Down 20 lbs in 4 weeks! Said everything is healing very well and that I am doing everything as expected. I go back in 3 weeks. How is everything going for you jama? Are things getting better? How is the diet going?

Awesome, musica73 on the weight loss!! Way to go!! That is great news everything is healing very well, too. That is very nice you have a job like that. I'm still experiencing pain. I believe it is gas (from the surgery). I also have pain around the port area. I'm bored to tears at home. I went to an open house at my kids school last night & 'over did' it. I was exhausted with all the walking & stairs. I finally broke down & took some pain medication. I stopped taking pain meds on day 2. I just need to let my body heal. But I'm ready to get back to my normal routine. I meet with my doc next Tuesday & hopefully back to work next Wednesday ; ) I have not told anyone at work 'what type of surgery I have had'. It will be interesting.....Overall feeling better each day ; ) Thanks for asking!

I had surgery on the 14th and this was actually the worst pain I experienced and it comes and goes' date=' my doc told me to blow in to a balloon (didnt get a breathing thing from hospital) its a weird spasm of muscle contracting kind of pain. the blowing hard in to the balloon seems to helps some. I do that every now and then and just put ice on it. Good luck![/quote']

Thank you so much, rpattilo1972! I'm going to try your suggestions! I said the same thing about the pain......No fun at all.....I hope the ice helps.

I was given my pre op diet sheet yesterday and they are really against bananas! I would have thought bananas being mushy to begin with would be acceptable but they are not?

Anyone else have the no bananas rule?

We have the same diet I think. And fruit is ok. The reason for bananas is not so much the sugar but the fat. It is the good fat like avocados but for pre op we are to stay away from fat even the good. This is why you can substitute a mashes banana for the oil when baking. Hope this helps. You can banana it up win we get to mushier post op. :)

I only told just a few people myself. It will be interesting to see what people say as I get smaller (hopefully :-)). I am kinda glad to be back into the normal routine, but will be real glad to be back to normal foods!

I think we're all waiting for life to feel "normal" again!! Are you planning to tell people when they notice the weight loss?

I think so. I just am one of those people who usually doesn't like to air all of my business, I like to keep my personal issues personal unless people ask, but I don't hide it. I have told a few people post surgery and they have been VERY encouraging and supportive! I know this was one of the hardest decisions that I have made in life, but I needed to do it. One thing a lot of people do not understand is that choosing to do lap band is not an easy path and I hope to educate them that this is not an "easy weight loss fix" for me. This is a tool that will help me in this lifelong battle that I have had. I will still have to work very hard at weight loss. I think unless you have gone through it, you will never truly understand. That is why I am so thankful for all of you my fellow bandsters!!

I agree that this was a big decision and one that none of us took lightly. I think it is hard to judge people when they haven't walked in our shoes. Having been called a cheater and then knowing what I have been through physically and emotionally I think alot of the criticism stems from people not wanting us to succeed. Where my bmi was 33 to begin with people often told me that I didnt need the band. However the weight still has caused me health problems. I too am thankful for everyone on this site.

No one knows your journey or story but you. People that call you a cheater are jealous they didnt do it first. If the lapband helps me keep from getting my feet amputated or to stay off dialysis then A cheater I shall be. Good Luck!

Thanks I totally agree. Extra weight is extra weight regardless if it is 60 lbs or 100 lbs. I am excited to have energy when the weight is off. How is everyone's energy so far? I am 2 weeks out and get tired easily. I had 2 other surgeries at the same time. My overall goal is to feel better and live better.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
