How strict are you day to day?

Recommended Posts

From surgery to where you are now, were u more strict then or after you got to your "sweet spot"? I'm feeling guilty bc I can eat just about anything right now and I usually don't but I haven't been as strict as I thought I would be. Im just curious about your situation and what typical meals look like for you guys.

I follow the 90/10 rule: 90% of the time I am very strict and 10% of the time I eat whatever I want (in band sized portions).

One important note- you say you can "eat whatever you want". You have to remember that the band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything. In fact, most of us can eat whatever we want even with adequate Fluid in the band. So, it's a good idea to start getting used to controlling what and how much you eat.

Best wishes.

I agree, I eat small portions all of the time but sometimes I have a little ice-cream or a bite of my husband food when we eat out. I still do not eat bread ( although I sometimes have some crotons ) or Pasta. I did stick to the doctor's plan for quite a few months after I was banded. OH I also did cheat with a glass of wine now and then. hugs

I'm not super strict with my eating, but I have way more control than I did in the past and I exercise like crazy most days so it balances out.

I made my journey a lifestyle change. I still have my treats, like a glass of wine every night. I have cake, Cookies, etc on occasion. I agree with Missy with the 90%/10% rule. I can eat anything I want, I just choose to eat what is best for me to keep maintaining my weight. Finding the right balance is what works for me.

Good luck to you. It sounds like you are on the right course.

Thanks for the replies! I am just feeling so guilty. But I'm still learning and as long as I continue to make progress I will try not to be so hard on myself. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
