It's empty calories so it's not good for you' date=' however as long as it's not carbonated and you count it in your daily calories it's fine once in awhile. Many banded people enjoy a drink now and then.[/quote']

When you have drunk more have you or anyone experienced being able to eat more ?

I don't drink except maybe one or two a year. I don't want the empty calories.

If anything, I would think it would fill you up so you wouldn't be as hungry.

I drink a glass of wine or a margarita about 3-4x a month. The first glass of wine I had post op (about 3 mths later), I was tipsy at about 1/2 a glass! After the first glass tho, it didn't affect me that way again.

I add it into my daily calorie intake.

I had a mixed frozen pinacolava on my vacation last week. I drank one in the afternoon with no food- felt a little heady, but not to bad. Then after dinner my hubs and I walked around the resort for about 30 min and then went and got another drink- I only drank half and it killed my stomach. My belly hurt for a good hour.

Mr. Doctor warned me that the effects of drinking alcohol would be much more pronounced after the lap band surgery... apparently the alcohol gets into the system faster for some reason? He also said empty calories, avoid it... but we are all human and I think everyone cheats on occasion.

I find my tolerance for booze has gone waaay up lol..not good

I'm seriously thinking its best if I give up , my band has been very tight and working well for two weeks. Had a glass of gin and orange juice and felt hungry. An hour later I ate as if I had no restriction at all ! Scared the hell out of me !

Depends upon the individual and whether or not you are concerned about calories.....

Yesterday, watching basketball, I had 2 CARBONATED Beers....did not feel anything different.....but like anything, you have to get to know your band, learn to "listen" to it

with everything you swallow....

Im doing ok with not wanting food while im drinking, but for me i find i can drink a whole bottle of wine and barely get tipsy...same with prescription drugs they seem to have no effect on me...my band seems to have the reverse effect! So bizarre! Lol

Be careful what you say my friend, because I got a private message from someone on this forum called "Angelizz10" who told me I was a "troll" for saying i could drink a whole bottle of wine by myself...she said horrible things to me, I have reported her, what an awful person..just giving you a heads up..:) cheers!

Well I had a single glass of wine yesterday since my last fill and was instantly very drunk! Been ill all day today with nausea and not being ale to keep any food down at all. So that's the end of alcohol for me !

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
