I FINALLY understand "bandsters hell!"

Recommended Posts

I had my band placed on 2/19/13. For the first three weeks I was on liquid only. I struggled the first three days with food obsession, but then things were just great! Not hungry, loved my shakes.< /p>

Now I'm on a regular diet. I am exercising. And I am HUNGRY! Almost all of the time.

I don't get my first fill until 4/11 and I am aware that it may make no difference.

I'm happy that I did the surgery and I know that this hard work will pay off BUT I really had no idea just how difficult it would be.

To anyone who is considering the band or newly banded: it is NOT magic and it takes 100% focus. Use a calorie counting app and buy smaller plates and utensils. Get up from the table immediately after eating your portion and LEAVE the kitchen for a while.

Ugh! I'm SO looking forward to feeling full longer!!

I hear ya! Banded March 20th and my hunger is just now waking up. I was banded empty and won't get a fill for a month. I'll make it thru the next four week alright---I know I can do this---but I am ready for that hunger switch to be turned to "dim" as it was right after being banded.

Good Luck! I've lost almost 30lbs ( and I couldn't lose a thing on my own!) The band is the best thing I ever did, but I realize now that I was slightly delusional about what "it" would do and what "I had to do."

Anyone who thinks this is a cop out or taking the easy way has NO CLUE!! We are health warriors!

Hate to burst your bubble, but it could take months to get you in the zone. Maybe you'll be the lucky one, who doesn't need much. But most take multiple fills to get there.

Welcome to "Bandsters Hell"

Good thing is, its worth it!

Sorry to hear you have discovered Bandster Hell. We have all been there, and yes, it is more work than most ever imagine. Hence my signature line. It is just a tool, you do the work. Never let anyone tell you that you took the "easy" way out! You have my permission to smack em up side the head, and you may want to! LOL

Oh, you poor thing. yes, this time sucks. A LOT. But always remember that no matter how long it lasts (and it will seem like forever at times) it is only temporary, and when you finally get through it, the skills you have learned and the changes you have made will be so much more than worth it that it will fade from your memory like the color out of cheap cotton! Stay strong, stay focused, and you WILL beat this!

I chew gum and all the tricks you said, but it is 100% focus to not eat everything in sight! I can't wait till 4/11 I hope this fill will help :)

My doctor told me no gum. He said if u swallow it then it is likely to get stuck n be a surgical procedure for removal.

I. also, am in Bandster Hell. Banded on 2/4/2013. Had my first fill a week ago. Have no restriction and the will power is waning. I'm going to do a week of Protein Shakes this week. I'm stuck at the same weight for 2 weeks.

It seems tat every day is bringing me farther and farther into this hell. Today I was ravenously hungry all day. I tried everything. Nothing made me feel satisfied. I even had frozen yogurt from Peachwave with some badness in it and it did nothing!

My theory is its sugar. I'm not being nearly as careful in regards to sugars. Tomorrow I buckle down and get this back in control.

Gum is a no-no. If swallowed you have to have major surgery to remove it. Working out is wonderful. You will go down in inches. My weight doesn't move much but with the gym my sizes are smaller

Good luck

I was banded in October. I was so hungry all the time and my willpower was shot. But I had a fill 2 weeks ago, and I finally feel like I'm in the green zone! Hang in there!!

Ok I am in bandster hell also. I was banded on March 20 and I lost 30 lbs like that now I'm even for days. Yes the hunger is really there and I using all the will power I can muster up. But I know it's a marathon not a sprint, heck if it was easy I would have list it all long ago. Keep strong and keep your bow pointed North.

My surgeon said I could chew gum just don't swallow it. :) it's funny how different surgeons can be!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
