Which Cold Meds can we take?

Recommended Posts

I'm over a year out, and have not been sick in any way til now. Sore throat, fever, sinus congestion, etc. Can I take Nyquil? I can't remember... I'm sur there's a thread on here that answers this already, I'm just feeling too bad to search! Thx for any replies.

I've taken nyquil. I can't see why it would hurt, it's not like your going to use it daily on a regular basis. Like I've said, I use it on occasion and have had my band for 6 years with no problems!

Thx Missy, it's the NSAIDs that I was unsure about with it.

I can not take very many over the counter meds but if you are congrested my doctors recomenned mucinex and a lot of Water. I do the original one but they have another with a decongestant I think. Feel free to ask your pharmacist. They are usually a good resource or of course your doctor (gp). Hope you feel better soon. Also if your sinuses are bad try a neti pot. They are amazing!!

The only thing I've been told not to take by my Dr is aspirin and NASAID's. I began taking my regular meds the day after surgery 3 yrs ago and have never had a problem. And I take Benadryl (antihistamine) every single night to help me sleep. I don't think Nyquil (which I've also taken) would be a problem....

Mucinex made me terribly nauseous with a ton of phlegm backing me up. You can take most of the liquid forms of cold meds. My favorite is Tylenol because they have custom versions for your symptoms (sore throat, fever, cough etc.).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
