Can we get a unlike button?

Recommended Posts

Sometimes people say the most incorrect things on here or they are nasty or whatever. It sure would be nice to be able to "unlike" or "thumbs down" their comments. I can't be the only one who ever thought of this and I bet a lot of people would be for it. Or maybe they wouldn't.

Seems to me having only a "like" buttons seems to slant things a little.

We're not going to release a "dislike" button. We have enough politics on here as is already!!! :D

We are definitely going to release a feature in the next few weeks (once our new site is launched) that allows members who posted a question to vote a members response up or down.....and the most voted response will rise to the top etc.

I completely agree with you B-52! Unfortunately, that is the reality of this forum.

Points counted...point leaders- all ways to reward people for the amount of time they spend on the site. That is exactly why I visit LBT so little these days.

I only post if I really feel that I have something to add to the discussion...

Hmmm...I want a "thumbs down" for this idea (sorry, Alex). First of all, it's way too easy to push a button for good/bad--very little thinking is required. At least when someone posts a response (negative or positive) to another person's post, the responder has to think about what point(s) he/she agrees with/disagrees with before composing them into a response. Others are free to read and evaluate the posts on their own. If someone's response is way off base, others usually point it out and corrections are made by the group. "Most votes" doesn't mean "best". Popular opinion has lead to many horrible ideas throughout history. Next, there's the whole impact of getting a "thumbs down" on your post/response to a question. That sort of thing does not encourage collaboration or an atmosphere of mutual support (the reason I have found this site to be so helpful every step of the way). Sorry, but while on the surface it sounds like a good idea (the good float to the top and the bad sink to the bottom), I think it's potential outcome will weaken rather than spport the true strength of this site. Please reconsider.

I don't post for points or reputation. Impost because I want to participate. I like because I agree with a post. Count or no would not affect my behavior on the site.

Are you in competition with someone? You post all over... Or are you like me just trying to contribute to others?

I respectfully disagree with the dislike option. I don't really think that moving a reply to the top of a thread based on likes is a good idea, either. You'd lose the continuity of the thread. I do think that a reply option to an individual response that would place the response directly below the corresponding post would be helpful. Would eliminate having to quote the entire post, keeping the thread less cluttered. Just my .02 :-)

Im sorry I will b devils advocate for a minute. 1) i do "like" a post if its something of value that i agree with, without having to type that i agree with said post for whatever reasons

However there is often enough of negative post that we really dont need a dislike but or the like to carry on

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
