OMG that sounds like a nightmare. I hope you get the help you need and i agree with the above comment, maybe you should look into a different surgeon!

I agree, time to get another doctor to look at it, preferably a Lapband surgeon who isn't affiliated with your original surgeon. Your incision should have been completely closed no more than a week following your original surgery. It sounds like a mistake was made in the original surgery. Would want a thorough check of the entire system. Good luck to you, hugs...

Mine did not heal correctly. I had an infection and was told after the infection was treated to let it heal on its own- it was an open wound. Totally gross ...

After it looked like it healed, I found out my port flipped. I wasn't crazy about having another surgery and they were able to manipulate it to still give me a fill so no big deal.

Then my incision got really red and they thought my band was eroding. Did an EGD and they found nothing... It was all fine.

Then I slipped on ice and fell really hard. The tubing broke through and tried to come out of that port incision.

I had no choice but to have revision surgery. They moved my port to the other side and re-opened the original incision. They found dead tissue where the port incision did not heal correctly. Removed the dead tissue and left the old port incision open. I now have to pack it with gauze everyday to make sure it heals right this time.

You should not ignore this. Get another opinion and get that thing healed or it can lead to major compilations.

Oh my gosh... This sounds identical to what I'm currently goin through. Infection, that finally seemed to heal after some time and now my port has flipped. Surgery next week to replace it. But he has told me they can still keep the port on the same side..... Please tell me this is easily corrected. I'm freaking out and surgery is a week away.

It wasn't that bad. I had to have my port moved to the other side to help avoid any further infection.

I was sore for about a week and a half, but in finally feeling better.

The open incision is healing. I can't wait for it to be done. The new incisions healed immediately.

The whole procedure took about an hour. I was in the recovery room for 4 hours. I was having difficulty breathing correctly.

Going for my follow up tomorrow. I'm hoping the Dr thinks everything looks ok, too. I don't want to be overly optimistic after this long journey.

Good luck on the procedure!

After all the packing and issues with my port had to have it removed 4/26 so that it has a chance of healing maybe it will get better been having issues since I was banded in Sept 2012 My surgeon said it should heal in the next couple of months and he will put a new port in on the orther side and hope for the best if that dont work then he will need to remove the band.

OMG This is scaring me! I'm going to have a port revision on May 10th. My port flipped and since it flipped I feel no restriction but that's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried that I might get an infection. I was doing great until my port flipped.

However, my doctor made it sound like a common occurrence and that it would be no big deal to have a port revision. Since my port flipped it's really sticking out and looks really ugly and is actually stretching my skin. I'm curious how can I prevent it from flipping again? I'm pretty sure it flipped when I was tossing and turning in my sleep. Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
