Cream Soup on liquids post-op

Recommended Posts

I did not blend my Soups, but my son does all the time. Only thing is, he also, burnt himself and got 2nd degree burns on his left hand pouring the hot Soup into his blender! Be careful if you blend! I had the same soups as Mis73 mentioned. I particularly like the butternut squash!

Lol, should never use a blender for hot liquids unless it is designed or that...hope he is ok. Blend before heating or after cooling...

I found a great selection at trader joes, roasted corn and red pepper was tonight's dinner, delish if only a few ounces! TJs also has a few low sodium varieties and they are much healthier than Campbell's and In Resealable cardboard jugs.

So when is it ok to have cream Soups? I'm 4 days post-op and tired of liquids, and broth... I want something with flavor!

Cream Soups ARE my post op diet. Rule of thumb is I can have anything I can sip through a straw or pour from a pitcher. I am indulging in cream of Tomato Soup right now. Every doc is different so check with yours first!! I couldn't imagine just being on Clear Liquids for so long, I am thankful my doc doesn't require that.

yaya9805, you need to discuss this with your surgeon's office. My surgeon had me on clear liquids, I think for 2 weeks, may have been 1. Check with the surgeon's office!

2 weeks post op..... Can cottage cheese do harm? My Dr said Protein shakes and full liquids until I see the dietician again on Friday coming up. Problem is' date=' I am so darn hungry. Please help. I don't wanna have problems.[/quote']

That was considered a mushie by my doc and I couldn't have that until week 3 and I had to blend it.

I ate it straight today. Idk what to do now. Will it cause the band to slip?

I was able to eat it the first week as long as it was paste like consistency.

I don't think one meal of cottage cheese will cause your band to slip. But you need to check with your doc before you decide to add foods to your post op diet. What I learned from the vets is eating solid foods causes your stomach to churn and move in order to digest it. You have just been banded and have stitches. Last thing you want to do is pop a stitch. However everyone's doc is different and others on the boards have progressed to more solid foods quicker. When in doubt check with your doc. :-)

Omg, pop a stitch. How do I know if that happens? I am scared now.

I'm ten days post up and my doctor said I can now have cottage cheese and foods with such consistency.

Didn't mean to scare the pants off you. Just when in doubt, check with your doctor's office. My doc gave me a very specific list of foods that I could choose from for each week. I followed his orders. If it wasn't on the list, I didn't eat it. Sounds like you didn't get too much guidance, so again, if you are worried, called your doctor's office. I doubt that you popped a stitch or anything like that but just be careful and give yourself time to heal. :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
