Question about surgery

Recommended Posts

I had a gall bladder operation done laparoscopically last June. I'm assuming the surgery will be done using the same general area of my scars now. Has anyone ever had gall bladder surgery and then had lapband later here? I did really well with my gallbladder surgery so I'm hoping the lapband will go as smoothly. I haven't spoken to my surgeon yet but was just wondering if anyone here could answer this? Thanks!

Ohh ohh. Me. Me! Finally a question I have experience in! I had laparoscopic gall bladder removal in 2007. Prior to that I had several ovarian cyst removals from lap. Surgery, 2 were lap. One open. In 2009 I had a total hyst that was supposed to be lap and had to be performed Open due to excessive scar tissue from all my laparoscopic procedures so I was CERTAIN he would have to convert to open for my band. I woke up in recovery pleased to discover they were able to do it laparoscopicly. I do have six incisions but I guess he was looking around for room to work. Hmm That could be why I had so much risidual gas pain! So there is a possibility that yours will go smoothly. If they could do mine, there is hope for everyone. I get excessive scar tissue and my belly looks like I was in a war.

I had my gall bladder out a couple years ago and am having the surgery Jan 17. My surgeon told me that he can use the holes from the previous surgery but will have to make at least one more and possibly two. I told him I don't care how many incisions he needs to make...I just want it done. And he said, oh, you'll change your mind on that when you're a size 8 and want to wear a bikini. I have never worn a bikini in my whole life!

And my gallbladder site wasnt utilized at all. My longest lb scar is about 4inches to the left of my gb scar. Bikini? Never owned one & dont care to. I like the one pieces with the cutesy skirts and that wont change if i am a Size 20 or size 2 . Just not my thing. :)

Thanks for the answers guys...that makes me feel better knowing it probably won't be an issue. I have so many questions for the surgeon and I know I'll forget them all when I get there. I'd never wear a bikini either...been so long since I could do that and I like the one piece look better too.

I had my gall bladder & spleen removed laparoscopically, so I'm praying the Band won't be an issue. My band date is 30 Jan.

And no one will catch me in the bikini either...everything ain't for everybody! <_<

i had my gallbladder removed in 04 and my dr used 3 of the (areas/incisions) with my lap band...i feel it was the (same type of pain) and of course the 3 to 4 days afterward of being sore was the worst of it but pain meds help..happy new year to you.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
