Hi All, I'm thrilled to have found this site. I've never blogged before but thought this would be a great way to track this journey. I had my band placed on Thursday, 12/27/12. Starting the New Year with a New Journey!

The first day was the hardest. I was extremely uncomfortable. Since then, every day has gotten better and better. I'm moving around much easier, taking short 5 minute walks several times a day and even fixed my family dinner tonight. The thing that has been the biggest challenge is the bloating. It's been the biggest struggle and I'm still not quite sure how to combat it. I've tried a number of things including walking, hot tea and the heating pad but it seems no matter what I put in my mouth (liquids at this point) I blow up like a balloon. I would be so thankful for any of you that could give me some suggestions of things that helped you! I'm confident (and hopeful) that this will only last for a short time but the quicker I can deal with this, the better.

Thats very very normal. Its gas pain. Try a heating pad when Youre not walking around!

Lots of walking, gas x,heating pad and peppermint tea should help the gas. I am almost 4 months out and have JUST stopped burping like it is my job (I still burp, but not like the first 2 months)

Good luck.

The rest of the way is lot's easier. You can do this and keep moving during the day. Its better for gas release to walk and keep moving. Keep Sips of Water all day, but NO straw. Brings in to much air while using straws. The heating pad is the best for any pain.

Best wishes on your recoveries.

Thank you so much everyone! I'll definitely add the peppermint tea to my regime. I so appreciate the feedback and support!

Kisha, I do get the shoulder pain as well but only when the gas/bloating gets really bad. I've started taking ibuprofen for the swelling and discomfort and that seems to have helped quite a bit. I take that instead of the pain meds the Dr prescribed and I'm finding it's helping a little better at this stage.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
