January 2013 Bandsters Unite

Happy New Year from Germany! To those like me who have January 2013 dates to be banded...my prayers to you for a successful surgery and a new YOU!

For those waiting on approvals or just to make up your mind...YOU WILL GET THERE...JUST HOLD ON. I have patience, but truly learned patience waiting on those little green people at the insurance company to say YES!

Speak positive, stay positive, be positive. If you know God...PRAY. He will see each of you thru this journey. I've read many posts and I have laughed, cried, gotten mad, sympatized and rejoiced with many of you through your expressions on LBT. And you have encouraged me to continue to move forward toward my goal.

Success in 2013 to each of you.

:-)

day 2 post op and gas pains are a lot better but headache is really bad... im having a hard day...kinda annoyed with everything.. i just wanna chug back a cold glass of water or gatorade... i want a coffee so bad it hurts! i spent the day in bed today i feel like i should sleep off the healing process for it to go quicker so i can eat again

I had to call the dr today to make sure I could tame Pepcid I suffered through the night so my throat hurts quite a bit. I am questioning my decision because I am in constant pain. Also I keep burping like crazy and getting up to walk. All I can say is ouch

Oh R-Sheryl....that has me so worried...getting 'stuck' and throwing up. I'm not even sure that I want any fills because of that. I know...then it's just another diet..but avoiding getting stuck is quite a deterrent in my opinion.

Luckily I didn't throw up, but what you feel from the gas after surgery is minor compared to the pain I had between my shoulders doing this. It took a couple of minutes before everything settled and quit hurting. Like I said, chew everything. Don't hurry.

Did anyone else suffer from acid reflux when they first got the band? I got the band on the 24th , 25th was throwing up and yesterday night/morning had acid reflux.

Well I just over came one obstacle. We went shopping and they wanted to stop and eat so we went to Olive Garden. I had a little bit of soup, grilled salmon , and broccoli. I only ate about half my salmon and 1/4 of the soup and a few pieces of broccoli. So proud of myself. I am full too. Before I would have eaten all of the soup, a lot more appetizer and would have had pasta and chicken. Small changes, one step at a time.

Excellent!! That's a huge step...one I haven't made yet. It's all about living with the band, and incorporating it into our lives. I go back to work tomorrow since I had the surgery and am nervous about that first lunch with the girls....

Oh bar2373 I'm sooooo proud of you!!! How long did it take you to eat your lunch? I'm still playing with the timing thing...but still on liquids because of some pain. Maybe mushies tomorrow...

I didn't time myself really this time. I ate a little soup and then stopped before I knew I would get full. When my salmon came I just cut it in half and ate that then asked for a box.

When I am home I measure and time.

Mine is above my belly button on the left side. I'm 15 days post op and mine is still tender when I bump it' date=' which I managed to do all week at work :([/quote']

Mine is on the left side also. I can't really feel it though. Is that normal?

My first mushy day and I've had a blended protein shake with yogurt and peaches for breakfast and for lunch canned chicken with light mayo' date=' eggs, relish, pepper and it was really good.

I think I'll have mashed potatoes for dinner

Funny thing is I couldn't eat that much... So I have plenty left

What mushy food are you all having??[/quote']

None yet but hopefully it will come soon enough for me. 6 days post op.

I'm going in on Monday at 730 I'm so nervous any words of advice??

Try not to think about it. I hyped myself up so much (I suffer from severe anxiety) that they almost canceled my surgery. Keep a positive attitude and have support there for you. That's what really helps. I had none.

I just had my first "stuck". I will not do that again. I've never had anything hurt so bad. Chew. Chew. Chew.

What did you do to relieve the problem?

For my crushed pill, I add liquid stevia and it worked. Taste not so bad. I am 3 days post op and I stopped taking the pain meds after 1st day post op. I just had to deal with gas pain and gasx helps. Today I had protein shake for breakfast, isopure for snack, another protein shake for lunch, isopure for snack and cottage cheese for diner. I didn't know how good cottage cheese taste LOL. I am really surprise how full you get with a 4 oz serving. Goodluck everyone!!!!
